Small economical car

Help please, theres a chance we may have to start doing the school run when the eldest changes school this year, as there is a good chance we won't be able to get school transport as our chosen middle school is not in the catchment area and all of his class who live slightly closer are going to go there and we feel sending him to a different school is a not good ! Anyhow if we do have to take him what small cheap economical car would be good ? Something around the £1500 bracket if possible ? Corsa ? Or any suggestions !

Do you not currently have a vehicle that can do it?
Car pool with his mates?
I have a ageing nissan Navara and our other car is a mitsubishi outlander, just want something small that will do lots of miles to the gallon which my nissan does not and the wife needs the other car for work most days, the other kids will all get council supplied transport due to the way the catchment areas are mapped

Oh ok so you're doing the school run and the farm ute isn't really practical?
For that money condition would be more important than any particular brand I'd have thought.
How many miles a week would we be talking about?

all cars after that Point NEW ones only min tax is £140 unless its a Zero emissions one ie Electric !!
I'll run mine until it dies @ £20 Roadtax yet its new equ has been £140 since April 2017
How nuts a system is that eh.
Remember seein cars advertised few years ago with very low road tax and thinkin thatl never last cause the government will be needin more money. Greedy gits. Elec car free tax wont last either

Don’t bother. You will save very little maybe nothing.

I’m assuming this small economical car is a as well as rather than a instead of?

If so all you will gain day to day is the difference in fuel consumption.

By time you have bought, tax, tested, insured and maintained an extra motor you may as well just tip tigers into the tank of whatever your already running.

I would add the school run mileage up over the year and work out the cost. I’m prob not far out in my guess unless the school is a land way away!
