So Gove is saying if Brexit talks don't make sufficient progress by June, we stop talking and walk away.
I appreciate there is an art to negiotiation, but this government don't really want a deal at all do they?

If anything, this virus aint going to make meetings very easy. Will we extend into 2021 :)

The same could be said of the EU side, want free access to our fishing grounds and we have to stick to their rules on everything or else. It's just talking big on both sides, whether either side means it we wont know for months yet and if this virus gets out of control then the talks could well be a minor issue

I did think he would get a Canada type fudge, but that boat appears to be about to sail.
Over a hundred Tory MPs don't want a deal. Without them BoJo has no majority.
No deal now dressed up as "Australian" deal.
That'll probably be the outcome.

If you look at how they describe themselves, I think its about 110 said that they could live with no deal. This was at the time of the election.

Now, 141 of 314 are on the government payroll and the policy is now "Australia" if they cant get "Canada"
Back the government or resign is in the job terms.

Living with no deal is different to "wanting" no deal. Imvho a deal that ties us to all their rules and regs on things like subs, environmental rules is not acceptable, but perhaps free trade on goods up to a certain quota both ways is, lots of horse trading to come, the EU have to be worried if we do better economically than the EU as a whole then more will want out. Was reading about what happened to Greenland when they left, it will be worrying for the EU if we prosper the same.

Now after the election Boris has even more MPs who are quite happy with out. If you believe what they say.

Is Greenland doing well?
I thought quite the reverse, more to do with changing climate than anything

According to the article I read it said their economy started to improve soon after they left, they still do a large amount of their trade with the EU and it claimed there was no desire to rejoin, whether that is bang uptodate I cant say

Well over 50% of Greenlands income is from the EU in the form of a Danish subsidy
80+% of the rest comes from selling fishing licences
Not sure if we can find a sugar daddy in the EU to chuck us much

If you stand back from these tit for tat sound bites and think of the real situation; rightly or wrongly (just for those thinking I’ve a strong opinion 1 way or the other!) Brexit meant “in or out”. Taking back control of our own ship means just that and any alignment with Europe would mean we are not in control of our own destiny, so a “no deal” is surely a given?? The EU are not going to concede very much if anything and we are unlikely to either so the “poles are quite far apart”.

I must admit, I start to feel a bit niggly as to why I have to pay my representatives to continue to waste time and money talking to the uk:devil:

Easiest deal in history.....
We are all paying a lot of people to discuss what simplistically looks like the raging obvious on both sides. What a waste of money and at the end of the process what tangible result will have been reached??
This is a battle of egos, not what's good for the country/countries.

You can take back control however to sell or trade with consumers, be that through a corner shop, a supermarket or a country the seller has to meet the criteria placed on them by the buyer, if you take the stance of take it or leave it the general reply from the buyer is I will leave it.

This is where Boris is playing us, Boris would have us believe the UK won’t agree to alignment with our biggest market whilst knowing “we”, not government, will have to align ourselves if we wish to access a market. And all the while he will allow others to supply us without aligning with our standards to access our market.

Why would he do that? It would be detrimental to the UK.
To supply any market, be that the EU, USA, Japan, China et.al. You have to align yourself to that market.
Taking back control is all well and good but you still have to stick to the golden rule “The one with the gold makes the rules”
