Does anybody run one? I'm there was an article some year ago about some livestock trailers in Wales being on a 5th wheel.

I would seriously consider one for work.

A chap down Exmoor use to run a livestock trailer like that, from what I remember he could up the weight to more than 3.5 tonnes

If the pickup has a 1T payload and it's towing capacity is 3.5T, you get 4.5T combined. It will handle well, too, with the tongue weight being directly over the axle. It's a superb idea!

Don't the brakes have to have a different setup?

It's an idea I've considered. Biggest downside would be vosa. Could you imagine them stopping you? They wouldn't know where to begin so likely just make something up

Saw 12 cows trip out of a gooseneck stocktrailer on something like a Dodge Ram or a F250 in Canada.
Why would you tow from the bumper of any vehicle when the weight could be carried in front of the rear axle?
