Compact wheel loaders?

How are they on the dairy? Currently use skid steers for scraping and a large frame wheel loader for feeding and bale work. Looking for something able to do both if we need it to. What would you recommend?

Stick with a skid steer imo
Had both a JCB 403 and Weidemann 1160 on demo.
403 is too weak to lift a pallet but is a nice place to sit
Weidemann was a lot stronger but adding a cab was ££s
Neither were as agile as a skid

Bought a skid

Local pig man has a couple of smaller Weidemann pivot steers, seem pretty reliable, one is telescopic, the other is a loader.

The Schaeffer range is worth a look at imo.

We've a little Avant at home, weighs only a tonne, lifts a round bale, very handy, not been much bother.

How small do you need it? Having seen a JCB TM220 in action the other day, they can get in to some seriously tight spots and you can also load a mixer wagon with them at a push. I certainly would like one alongside our loading shovel!

We are looking at a Volvo L50h, the largest of “compact” loaders we can fit in the barn. 116 horsepower, 12 foot lift height at pins, 4ish ton lift capacity at height. Critically comes in at just a hair over 117 inches in height. Height restrictions of 10 ft dictate any machine purchase that is to be used in the barn.

Just googled volvo L50h and this is what came up https://www.volvoce.com/europe/en/products/wheel-loaders/l50h/. I think perhaps your idea of a compact loader and mine may be different :ROFLMAO:

I like my pivot steer wheel loaders. Volvos definition is based on technology. Their compacts are hydrostatic machines build in germany. The bigger ones are powershift and build in sweden. I think the only similarity on a l50 and l60 is the coupler and the name.
i looked at a l50h last time i bought, trading from a cat 908h. Volvo has dropped the high speed version of the l45 and l50 because of problems on the g series. So now it’s only 20k. If you can live with that and it’s not too big, i would go for it. I bought an l70 instead. That is a big machine. I also have a 5 ton pivot steer (the size of an l30) we use for almost everything. I won’t have anything else.

Bit of an old thread @Serup but have Volvo now brought back the higher speed L45 & L50. Seems you can have 30, 40 or 50km/h transmission now?

Yes it seems like they have figured it out and have it with different top speeds.
I also have a l35gt high speed now, but that is only 30 km/h max.

I’m in same position. Been right royally peed off with my New Holland L320 skid steer.
I’m liking the look of Kramer KL25.5t telescopic pivot.
I didn’t know Kramer made anything pivot steer? I thought it was a safety feature that they are all-wheel-steer only.

They don’t,weidemann are the artic versions.

Never realised that the Weidemann's were in fact Kramer's until you said that. Obviously a market for both.
Prefer fixed chassis loaders personally and our 4ws loader is a better turning circle than the pivot steer sister.
