Food Security

We did a quick tally up, and there's a coupla boxes of porridge oats, and enough beef in't freezer to see us through!

But I suspect not.
As long as the work rota is robust enough, and the packing/delivering keeps happening,
all of the morons who went nuts last week won't be out shopping next, so it soon evens out.

Obviously if the delivery system starts to fail - or the staffing at utilities- then the poop hits the fan real fast.
If the shelves aren't restocked 24 hours later.....

Are the general public about to get a lesson in food security? Supermarket shelves in many areas are empty due to panic buying. I just went to the butchers and he isn't worried about his supply of local meat (so I have my pork and black pudding sausages). Can the same be said for anything we import?

Most likely no livestock markets from next week so I wouldn't be too sure ref the supply of meat if the farm gate price dives which it will do if the markets are closed!

While I fully appreciate the seriousness of Covid 19, Is the world not going way over the top with its reaction? By now the virus will have spread worldwide and I don’t think lockdown is necessarily going to make it go away; it may slow it down but it seems to being treated like the Plague which killed all, young and old. Flu still contributes to many premature deaths each year! How bad do the scientists think this will get? We all remember CJD was going to be an epidemic.

Not about saving lives, its about causing an economic depression like the 30's and taking away people's liberty's/ freedoms, thus why governments across the world have lost the plot and are falling over themselves to shut everything down!

Any shut down will have to be for at least 3+ months.

Funny thing is Russia seems very quiet on what is happening there.

Well very early on I read that China predicted 60m dead worldwide. With current rate, could be anywhere between 100k and 160m. It's very nasty indeed. But not civilization ending.

Sombre to think that it will very likely kill TFF members. Although farmers are very low risk, so here's hoping.

Edit...

NI have just said they are going to close schools for at least 4 months so any lockdown down will be for 6 months at least so next Sept before things get back to anything like normal.

Will be very few businesses in any sector left by then!

For me - I did think for a split second that it may actually be a real good lesson on the back of this, but then I remembered - the f**ktards only have short term memories, so as soon as this is over - they will go right back to buying the 1.99 water impregnated chickens and processed foods unfortunately.

Oh and as for defending yoiur own food stocks, good luck with that as several countries have seen serious harm through food riots. Difficult times ahead because a lot of people only care for their phone and faceache... they will do whatever when the sh!t hits the fan.

I guess you are right. Maybe a TFF member may succumb to this and one is one too many! It is serious but I can’t see how mankind can eradicate it other than by natural extinction.

That’s a very good point. What’s happening in Russia. The world can’t shut for 3 months. The economic effect would be catastrophic beyond belief.
