I have a feeling the likes of McDonald’s might know what’s coming better than any of us on here. Just the way they closed restaurants first then used up some stock on drive throughs then announced closing tonight. Seems too well prepared to me

Local market has 650 to sell tomorrow, many in tonight and over 1500 sheep in tonight.

I presume that as essential workers we will be able to travel but there will only be two buyers allowed at the market.
Dunbia fieldsman saying that welsh government and the farming unions been on the phone to them saying they must stay open, they’re very much needed
Just made a phone call. The line I'm still getting is that abattoirs are essential,
Since when did the borders shut, I cant find that anywhere? External borders outside the EU, yes, but not internal borders inside the single market? EU have just issued a press release today ensuring that all borders within the bloc must remain open for food,
Something stinks
OK, conspiracy theory time.

A big powerful firm like McDonalds appear to have had the'inside track' on what's going to happen.

The supermarkets are now the governments 'blue-eyed boys' (they've been allowed to ignore all competition laws etc and exchange sensitive information because Boris and Co see them as the only way to ensure the nation gets fed.)
So supermarkets are sure to know that livestock markets are going to be shut very soon.

It would certainly not be in their interests to end markets with the record prices that we've seen in the last couple of weeks as that would set a dangerous precedent for what we could argue we should be paid when deadweight is our only option.

So, they 'knock their heads together', and lop 30 or 40 quid off a hogg overnight. When Boris shuts markets down, in the next few days, they've now got a much more lucrative market price (for them) to use to base their d/w offers on.

Remind anybody of F&M??

NHS was meant to be under massive strain this week from the virus from the so called computer models.

About 150 odd in hospital from it.

And here they have closed down the cancer wards and sent the doctors etc home on extended leave... ( and they are not self isolating ) as they have nothing to do.

I rarely post on here but for God's sake.... I have just spoken to an actual cancer care nurse who now also has all three children at home and is a widower.... let me reassure you they definitely are NOT at home on extended leave..surprise surprise they are working all hours, much like most NHS workers....but hey as always don't let the truth get in the way of a good story

With retailers dropping lines like mad ,not their own though,I am worried they will drop organic and see prices become unsustainable! Having said that Yeo Valley is flying off the shelves atm.

I feel your pain, while supermarkets get lauded we get shafted.

The problem with Hogs is they have a sell by date stamped on them...so to speak...the teeth start rising and devalues them even more, and the trade knows that, just why do we bother

Try milk....hours not days !

No one wants to see prices sky rocket no more than they want them to fall off a cliff.

Feed the nation yes, give it away very much less keen!

I have a fair few too.
Never panic. There’s the festival’s to come. There’s less sheep about than there used to be 20 years ago when they always fell off a cliff in May, when a lot more big flocks of sheep lambed really early. Hoggs have been holding value into June and later. I know because I always have some to sell then. It can settle down. There’s not the sheep about. In hindsight they have probably been paying too much for them for too long and what a great week to not buy any rather than putting them up anot25p per kilo, which is what would have happened if things had carried on normally.
