I am going off second hand information here but the square plough was the best thing since sliced bread in it's day- it worked exceptionally well for I believe 2 seasons and everyone got one. If I remember right it had plastic mouldboards but metal wearing points? Anyway, they worked incredibly well in the dry. The following summer/autumn was a wash out and people faithfully took their square ploughs out and they just didn't work and into the nettles they went.
