Agreed if £170 is the worst price I get I shouldnt moan .
God only knows which way the price is going at the moment we got all our wheat in but some of it is looking pants Some average nothing outstanding.
If it averages 3 ton this year I will take that?

i would as well , on planed acreage 15% drilled 85% spring barley hope store cattle are buyable in the autnm.

I would doubt that price is about now

Sold all harvest 19 wheat for £150..
So I find it hard to turn down 170 ex November..

Mixed farm.. So I always like to sell majority ex Nov..

Need the space... And no doubt I always find something to invest the cash in [emoji106]

You're probably similar to me but what went in early looks really well but what went in later, least said the better. I will also take a 3t average now.

Cheering myself up by considering some threadbare crops may not be so far off the mark if it continues dry.

I would take a 3t average over the whole area of wheat to be honest and I do have some very reasonable looking wheat on lighter ground but areas on headlands soon bring the average down.

not that bothered how many tons / acre more interested it what I can scrape together in£ /acre with some all but written of ,some decideldy average, and some as good as it gets

What are fellow farmers thoughts on the up coming harvest and grain prices ...Will the affects of Covid 19, depressed beef and sheep prices have a say on the market.. I’ve nothing sold forward which would be unusual for me ... crops over the winter had me worried and now I can’t make my mind up !! Is it a year to hold longer and see if there’s more upward movement... Any views would be of interest! Thank you all ...

God only knows. I have made grain sales forward as I think wheat at anything over 150 is ok but I could see it going 40 either way and I haven’t the foggiest which.

Fair play @ Flat 10... that probably is as succinct an answer for any season ! Don’t know why I’m not or not yet a strong inclination to sell some ... and I don’t like regrets!!

I have more of an inkling in a‘normal’ year. This covid jobby has got me confused.

Me likewise... beef prices worst in 10 years ! I don’t know how they stick it ! Normally I would be 50-70 % sold at prices offered for wheat but acting a little cocky at present or stupid, maybe! @ Bobk .. I’m not understanding your comment? Cheers

Inflation.
In a years time, £150 could be the equivalent of £120 now, if we have 20% inflation in the meantime. Something that's been unimaginable for a couple of decades, but go back a couple more and it was the norm.

I'd say three weeks no rain is going to cause serious hassle to heavy land spring barley where land was dragged up, baked and bashed to small bricks.

And light land winter wheatput in in less than ideal conditions...........was there and ideal conditions last back end ?

I can stand a couple more weeks of of this dry weather so bring it on, all this spring barley better be worth something in September
