What would be a good tig for welding alloy check plate ?
You’ll need an AC/DC tig if you want to weld alloys, there’s a big price jump from a standard DC only tig.
I’ve got an R-Tech 201 AC/DC tig with water cooled lance, it’s done around 8 years now and been faultless.
You need quite a few amps once you start getting into the thicker plate, I wouldn’t want any less than a 170A machine. Not enough amps and progress will be steady which causes excessive heat to build up in the work piece.

unless ur doing very tricky or delicate work I reckon a spool gun is far quicker way to work

Just after leaving the Lidl in Antrim and there’s at least 12 plasma cutters available possibly more. I bought one last year and despite my best efforts I haven’t killed it yet.

Consumables can be reasonable on amazon and ebay
Would a 50 litre air compressor be suitable for that Aldi/Lidl Plasma Cutter?

Does anyone know of a good supplier of consumables like grinding discs and gasket sealant etc that you can buy online an be delivered to you? I always forget to buy them when doing the rounds but they arnt important enough to buy specially!
L&s engineering are online do most things

What are the better makes of grinding/cutting disc does paying more get a better product. thanks.

Generally yes, always found standard tyrolit, flexovit, or branded stuff like Bosch or dewalt to be good for the money. If you want to go up a level then there’s stuff like 3m silver or cubitron. Cheap wheels are just not worth the hassle or risk to your health.

Looking for some good cutting discs suitable for small cordless Makita grinder,
With restrictions getting from local supplies store is a nightmare

We have a 5 inch dewalt. Phoned up several Agri parts people and they only sold the 4 1/2 inch discs. Got some off amazon! Think the make are LZ. Really impressed with them.
