Face Masks and Agricultural Shows...

Government advice is to wear face masks in enclosed environments (shops and supermarkets) so given the outside nature of most Ag shows, do you think wearing a mask to a show would work? I don't think it will effect all the shows that are cancelled so far, but plenty later on in the year too.

Would you wear a mask to a show? Most farmers must have the full on face masks not the throw away one's!

Seeing some of the prices the food stalls have for manky burgers etc, I strongly suggest that there have been bandits at shows for many years

Not for me I’m afraid. Going into the 8th week, over 30,000 dead, and still too many saying it’s just a flu bug.
Last thing I’d want for a long time is being among folk.

Think it would be a bit like going shopping and not buying anything, a complete waste of time and huge risk for everyone involved.

Some I haven’t heard cancelled yet such as Westmorland and uk dairy day in September or for that matter Eurotier in November but I wouldn’t like to put money on them going ahead

Facemasks are really to prevent you passing on the virus more so than to protect you from others. Wearing a mask in densely packed situations is going to be a duty of social responsibility rather than self protection... but I wouldn't rush to buy your tickets for anything happening this year... as has been said already we are over 30,000 dead from this virus despite it having only infected 4% of the population thus far, not my figure that's what the chief medical officer admitted at todays briefing!!

I can’t see shows being a good idea for the rest of the year, probably longer. I won’t be in any hurry to go to a big event with lots of people from up and down the country for some time now.

most livestock farmers would not have any face masks.

in all honesty id even consider not going to Lamma next Jan coz until there is a Vaccine its gonna keep cropping up again & again

in addition many farmers ( and others ) have masks with a vent, my own mask stocks included, the vent greatly reduces the effectiveness of wearing a mask when the purpose of wearing of one purpose is not for self protection but rather to protect others

Only 4th time supermarket shopping since lock down and still wearing ffp3 mask with engineering glasses. First time shop staff thought it extreme now accepted as the norm. Certainly would not want to wear it all day at a show cannot see why you would want to put yourself at risk for something that is not essential.

The sample wearing masks make you laugh sometimes .
Ill fitting ,wrong type, wearers with face hair and beards???, only over mouth, only over nose and talk underneath ???

Social distancing will have a greater effect on these public events or gatherings - more so than any face covering.

Some showgrounds just don't have the physical scale or facilities to let large crowds stay 2m apart.

I don't see shows coming back until we have a vaccine or herd immunity.

Saw a numpty over the weekend in one like you wear in the grainstore. He came out of a shop, saw another bloke who I presume was a mate, lifted his mask up onto his head, and shook his mate by the hand and had a natter.

It's like someone wearing plastic gloves ,touching everywhere and then scratching and touching their head and faces after???
