8 week fly protection

Clikzin is 8 weeks cover, not sure on any other products? Maybe Crovect but I wouldn’t want to be the one shearing unless we have a lot of rain between now and then

Crovect is only 6-8 weeks cover. Due to the way it works the chemical would be gone from the wool and completely harmless by end of week 8
Clik has clear warnings not to handle or shear for 3 months after application. Clikzin is the same product but at a weaker rate so I'd take my chances with Crovect.

Having known several shepherds who had immune system reactions to Vetrazin, and given Crovect has a similar mode of action, I’d take the opposite view.
I would also have more confidence that ClikZin would protect them for the full 8 weeks, rather than start getting struck lambs in the weeks before shearing, particularly if we ever get any rain.

So why the warnings on Clik if its safe?
Crovect wears out and will be gone. I agree it maybe won't give as good a cover to the ewe lambs (hoggs?) in the final week or 2 - but that cover failure is a sign the product has been spent.
Been almost 20 year since I last saw or used Vetrazin, but I thought it was just a growth regulator like Clik?

Used to work in chemistry labs and when COSHH came in it was a standing joke that lab supply companies who sold chemicals had Material Safety Data Sheets for water. If you got it in your eye it stated you had to wash it out with, guess what, 'copious amounts of water' etc.

cyrozamine is a growth regulator.....crovect is cypermethrin an anti cholosterinase (nerve enzyme).....the fact the former is deemed more dangerous is ming boggling TBH

I googled the AI earlier, its an IGR the same as Clik.
The contra-indications and precautions are all there clear to be seen. Users fault if they then suffered from it... much like if you ignore the precautions on Clik, but in later life it turns out to have ill effect.
But Vetrazin was good, always hoped it would come back on the market
