Wondering how to take a soil sample?

I (Caroline) made a quick video the other day to show you how. If you are preparing to soil sample and would like to ask us any questions, please post them below or head to our website www.lancrop.com

Alternatively, we offer a leaf tissue analysis service with a special group for grassland called 'Animal Health Leaf' (Order form code: AHL) covering N P K Mg Ca S Mn Cu Fe Zn Mo B Na Co I Se ???

Happy sampling!

In the absence of pies can I ask you a soil test question please. @Lancrop Laboratories
Having used your services in the past, when I say my crop is fruit you always emphasise the need to rectify any Mg deficiency as urgent. This always alarms me and makes me think I have a desperate Mg deficiency issue.
Then when I work out how much I would need to apply it is so infinitesimally small that the physical task of distributing it over the area evenly would be a challenge.
Why is this?
Would it be easier to give me a pie? Did the sesame free request exclude my entry or should that be entree

Hi Kidds,
Thank you for your question.
We mark Mg deficiencies as urgent as magnesium plays a crucial role within photosynthesis forming the central atom within the chlorophyll compound, so it certainly shouldn't be overlooked.
Trying to correct the deficiency within the soil would be challenging given the application rate is small, you would benefit more from foliar application.
You could also check the levels within the plant with a leaf tissue test.

Barbeque time = competition time!
The day is cooling down and we assume most of you watching this thread will be moving outside to tend to your grill or enjoy an evening drink.

But the show is not yet over!

We're holding another giveaway where you could bag yourself a barbeque meat box from Farmison & Co!
Post your answer to the question below, along with a photo of whatever you may be doing tonight, or wherever you may be tuning into the Virtual Grassland Show.
If you get stuck, you will also find the answer in the 8pm Yara webinar with Jon Telfer.

The question is: At least how often should you be soil sampling?

We await your responses, and we will draw out a winner after the webinar, so stay tuned!
