Yes 9 out of 10 pits is covered with sand in my area. I guess it's a no go if you have rocks in the soil. If I want to open the pit up again I only put some sand on the edges of the sheet, would be a dick of a job to take this amount of sand off every time o_O
How do you remove it from top of cover when you start feeding out of pit?

I still had my boilersuit on yesterday and today! Was sweating like a pig.

I'm not big on ppe but haven't sprayed in my shorts. Not much chance of it getting on your legs anyway. Did have to get out a couple times to blocked nozzles
We have our coveralls in the lockers but it's too warm to wear all the while

All those unguarded chains would make our elf and safety police go into meltdown over here!.

not that they are being used in this situation, as I’m running the seed through the front air seeder bins, not the individual vacuum seed boxes on each unit, but those chains are all ground driven.
I would argue that safety guards are irrelevant as no one should be anywhere near it while it is operating in the field. when the tractor isn’t moving, the chains aren’t moving (y) :D

I couldn't agree more, we spend more time removing guards to adjust or mend things than it takes to do the job sometimes. Probably had more scraped knuckles and cut and abrasions from fiddling around guards than if they weren't there in the first place.
