Thinking of vaccinating as have to run ewes/lambs every 3 weeks through the bath and stand. Very labor intensive, anyone use it and how do you find it?

What’s your foot issue?
Why not use formalin and just run through and cure it? If you have to bring them close to your yards etc run them through in the morning and afternoon again and then send away.

This year I bought 2x inter shape foot mats, very very good and I walked all lambs Over it at 5-6 weeks old it stopped the scald instantly and apart from 1/200 it hasn’t returned, I also moved these mats to multiple systems and with the rappa too.

Formalin not too strong should be fine although it sounds like a ball ache to set up on an away patch of land.

top the grass if it's stemmy, it cuts between the hooves and causes scald.

Using Zinc Sulphate at the moment. The farm is an outfarm and split so not near sheds, a lot of moving around

If your zinc sulphate doesn't already have a surfactant in it, add a small amount of washing up liquid to the solution in the footbath - it doesn't need more than the amount for a standard bowl of dishes, and doesn't need to be scented.

As has already been mentioned, footmats are worth the investment.

How much would one put in a standard bowl of dishes? :censored:

Are they good these foot-mats or do they harbour bugs

we had a couple when they first came out, 20 odd years ago. Sheep ran over them ok but I didn’t find them anywhere near as effective as running them through a 4% formalin footbath (with a bit of straw or wool dags thrown in for the first time).

I cut ours up to use as disinfectant mats in 2001 and certainly haven’t felt the urge to replace them,

Ok won’t bother then. Had some lambs through foot bath today 2nd time and ran a lot better.
