When you say good price, maybe in the 1970s.
if your paying rent, the jobs not going to be any good at these prices when the subs gone . It’d be better in an environment scheme at £200/acre

put it all down to lapwing paradise.
I’m on AHA , so they can’t chuck me out, I’d put it in the scheme . I’m also a landlord on ground I own .

I just wonder if the role of a farmer will be devalued if
a vast acreage was turned over to these schemes.

Something like a 2yr legume fallow would be ok . You’d get a very good first wheat after it

your probably right, but in reality many of the older generation will have tucked those subs away into houses and pensions etc, so can potter on indefinitely .
i know, i think it will get better in the future hopefully elms will be good

if elms takes out a couple of million acres of cereals and rape the consumer will have to pay more

Nov20 wheat futures seem to be holding pretty steady around £170/t mark. Despite my earlier prediction the market was done and only going to drop off towards harvest!
