Harry Barclay HRN supposedly told JD to shove it.
Sorry if this is old news that has been covered, I just heard it yesterday.

That really would be big news!!
Been well reported Neil Barclay told them to shove it over 4 months ago now
Was speaking to Neil Barclay today in Insch, HRN head depot and it is true, told JD to do one, finished selling JD on 31 October.

Believe JD wanted Balbeggie branch area to go to Netherton tractors, that and other things caused the split.
Big screw up for JD I'd have thought.

All pretty much turned out as above.

Harry doing the same really would put the cat in amongst the JD pigeons:D

Didn’t realise William Flemings been made up the general manager at Phillips, he’s a complete w*****. contacted several times about machinery i was interested in but never gets back 2 you, when he does its excuse after excuse. Scots shouldn’t have put him in that job, bettter being sacked And its the view of many Phillips customers in tayside

All very interesting when you are a farmer in Cornwall running all JD. I deal with Smallridges, Masons Kings and CFM. I find all of them excellent for service although buying new kit from one has proved difficult ...... but that’s a customer/rep relationship thing ?

Had my CFM rep here this week dropping in some parts and he was very tight lipped and gave nothing away. But the word on the street is that changes will be seen in October.
With JD alleged policy of wanting high turnover dealers there was no way that a relatively small area like Devon and Cornwall was ever going to continue with 3 dealers. It’s been interesting the number of tractors Masons have been putting into Cornwall, not brand new but very high quality low houred machines.
I feel sure CFM will continue, they have good customer relationships and a spirited dealer principle ?

Fairly sure he was in that position before Scot JCB takeover of AM Phillip.

Well thought of by most of his former Earnvale customers. That and potential customers he could bring would be main reason why Phillips appointed him branch manager when they opened up in Perth a few years ago.

When Manns were the importers of Claas equipment that's exactly what happened, not now of course Claas could see there was money in it for them and in their own greedy way spoilt the infrastructure for everyone.
There are many others of course, Lemken/colchester tillage springs to mind, why can the manufacturers not leave the Independant importer to get on with the job he's doing and stop muscling in to run it from some ivory towers in far off countries. The independent probably knows the market requirements better the manufacturer just starts sniffing around when the hard work has been done distribution sorted and sales are buoyant

The “spoiling of the Claas infrastructure” probably started back in the 1970’s when the Mann family sold Manns of Saxham to the Howard machinery group who used it to prop up their ailing other divisions (Howard Rotavator, Howard Harvestore).
Selling to Claas after a few years was the best thing for everyone, employees and customers.
The retail side (only one branch at Saxham) was losing so much that it was sold to a regional co op, ECF, for a quid!
That probably contributed to ECF’s demise not long after and Claas were forced into retailing the machines all over East Anglia and bringing typical German efficiency to that operation, largely by shifting the huge secondhand stock.
I was a bit young at the time to get all of that properly but I’ve heard enough about it since from my Dad who worked for them for a long time.

He was put in the job early last year so done in Scot JCB time. Never liked him at earnvale either, no respect for the customer just wants the money.
Do my best to stay away from him now, deal with Gavin at Perth only, I get great service from Perth depot - when MR Flemings not involved
