I see Adam on Countryfile last night admitted the effects of the drought on his crops. Crops looked even worse than mine. I was starting to think I was the only one affected by the drought in April/ May, after listening to all the predictions on here for massive straw and grain yields......
TFF is overtaking the FW for pub yield talk IMO.(n)

Not expecting anything brilliant this year.
w Barley looks promising so will disappoint
Osr still have everything that was planted so will definitely improve on last year. Is only half the area.
Spring barley plants look ok but thin so yield down and thin crop could mean high n
Wheat one farm good Bg control went in ok and should be average or better
Other farm poor Bg control, it’s pants! would have been better off not bothering planting it and doubling the SB area
Spring beans look good but I’ve never grown them before so have no idea what they should look like

did a 17 acre field of winter barley yesterday. i think i could just about fill a 29 ton lorry . It was so short in places that i was using the reel to sweep it onto the bed. Hopefully that's the worst field.

It'll be the worst crop I've ever had.....I think. Depends whether the second growth stage catches up with the first. Wonder if I can use a stripper header to take off a first cut, thus leaving secondary tillers and stunted patches for a second cut..... o_O

Cut gimlet winter barley yesterday. About 2t/acre and sample looks poor. Cut below 14.3% so will save on drying cost. Very small swath of straw.
