Wool...what will you do with yours...

I’m letting the wool board grade and auction mine, because the auction system is the only way to get a fair price.
Those direct buyers might offer you an extra penny today, but as soon as they’ve finished off the auction system, you’ll be totally in their hands.

Isn’t that what you live auction mart guys keep telling us? Why would it be any different for wool?

There was an Irish fella that posted his wool ticket on Facebook a few weeks ago, showing where he’d received 5c a kilo for it. That is the reality of only having private buyers, controlling the market.

Rang the wool board the other day. Asked what they thought. They said I could either send it or keep it till next year if I had space. Fella said the price at auction is improving fast so next years cheque for this years wool and the balance of last years could be a lot better than anticipated.
I've put all mine on the loft in the old barn. It can stay there till next year if needs be and it won't be in my way.

Burnt all our swale wool wasn’t worth someone’s time packing it then the diesel delivering it. Have bagged the white wool and will hold onto it till cows come in and will probably take it to the Irish, who will by then should have increased their prices. Have herd they have upped them once already.

On an apparently rapidly rising market, surely having the wool board auction it over the next 12 months and paying every producer a pool price for each grade, would pay better than taking whatever the Irish think they can get away with paying at the time?

Wool board can have ours.will drop it off no doubt a few days before the collection centre closes.as long as I get something I'm not bothered.at the end of the day I don't keep sheep to make money out of wool.

Maybe.
But I don't like this "we'll pay a bit now and then an indeterminate price sometime later".
Wouldn't be so bad if it was a straighforward "we'll pay you (some of) what we get for it, when we get it".
But then, I don't think anyone is going bust if they didn't get anything for it, or if they did, they would have done anyway.
