Keep packets of Rowntree Pastilles as well. The sugar on the outside has a virtual instant effect. Easier on the pocket than a can but keep them in a plastic bag after opening.I buy the 150ml cans of fanta, and keep them in all the tractors and were ever else i need them. being a tin they robust enough to survive around the farm,
How do people manage through a day with their sugar? Mine I am struggling to keep it up when I am working outside and have found whilst being at home during lockdown that it has got halfway through an afternoon and has started to plummet. Trying to get it staying lower as opposed to high but it seems to have had this trade off with low in an afternoon. Doing similar jobs (maintenance and sheep stuff) most days I was just wondering if other folk had times when they just struggled to get it to work properly. Did wonder if it was the last burst of night insulin just coming through my system. @milkloss did you ever start using your freestyle libre sensor?
Yes .I do that but at coffee time I will have a cuppa and biscuit and a small injection and it works ok ,no real problem and in afternoon have a brew and biscuit and if I have an injection it just seems to pull it down really quick. That’s why I find it puzzling really. Same Food and stuff, just a different time of day and it seems to work more. That’s why was wondering if it was long acting insulin. Have started to miss ‘tea time ‘ injection to try and stop it but it then starts to creep up by supper? time. Bit frustrating but will get there eventually, probably go back to normal when I go back to proper job.No, bl00dy silly really, just not got into it. Are you having snacks between meals? A cuppa and a few biscuits are the way to avoid mid meal crashes.
I’d need to know a little more. I suppose morning blood glucose levels are in range? I’d be tempted to say too much long-acting insulin or my trouble before my pump I didn’t want to have an elevated bs so I’d take a little too much insulin to avoid having another shot two or three hours later, so a low usually ensued, another thing is I didn’t count carbs, just 8 units for breakfast etc. Now with the pump it easy just to drip a bit of insulin in and watch it work or not work. Had a cannula come out (tube on pump takes insulin into me) and didn’t realize it and my bs hit 33.4mmol/l. Really upsetting other wise it’s worked fine. The first image is the basal, makes me realize why my 24hr. Lantus let me high in the morning and low during the day. Then all my carb ratios differ some, now that I count them again...How do people manage through a day with their sugar?
