Tonight we are on Blue Fin sashimi followed by seared Blue Fin steak, I think I may have over cooked the steak.

The only bit of that they "won" single handed was by dropping 2 A bombs and that was against a much smaller country. No country "won" WW2 single handed despite what Hollywood thinks, least of all us in the UK. Without US financial and equipment support we would have folded in late 1941. Securing the continued support of the USA at a critical time was probably Winston Churchill's greatest achievement.

What does it mean to "win" a war anyway?

wasnt Winston’s mother from the US ? I know he had very close relationships with the US

but yes, as you say, US support to the UK ( or Great Britain as it was then ) was crucial & was just as important as them actually joining in later on

( & claiming all the Hollywood glory 🤣 )

Wuhan Dan is a gutless prìck that wont take any responsibility for his and his ministers mismanagement. Blames everyone else but his useless self..... As of Sunday night ALL Victorians have to wear gimp masks in public...Truck drivers crossing the borders have to be tested every 7 days. People on the south coast now not allowed to have any visitors in their house. Yet can still go to the pub.

Starting to look like NZ has another term of Labour, with a working majority this time.....

6 weeks is a long time in politics. It would be a concern if Jacinda gets a majority allowing Labour to govern alone, it would be even worse if the Greens hold the balance of power.

Lots of plaudits being cast her way around the world, many along the lines of "this is what a 21st century leader should look like".

I share your concerns but it seems the other NZ political parties have conspired to hand it to them :(

Shockingly all countries seem to want to be rid of their respective leaders. And their excuse for having a leader they dislike so much is that the alternatives were worse (or is dastardly millennials voted them in)

Yet on the scale of things, none of them are as bad as Trump. Don’t worry America, all the rest of us in Western Democracies have also periodically let our leaders “delay”elections.

Breaking news on tv is that my town/council and those surrounding have been put back into lockdown.
Separate houses are no longer allowed to meet at each other’s home.

But we are all free to go to the pub to meet up still.🤔

I’m actually lost for words.
Like I said parts of Victoria have had that too. Cant have 1 person come to your house. Yet you can go to pub, restaurants, and the gym ffs.

Jacinda is very media savvy and plays them well, hence the plaudits from around the world, I will give her full credit for what she has done during covid, her communication skills are outstanding. I would question whether she has the financial ability to get NZ through the next stage of financial Armageddon.
John Key also received plaudits from around the world mostly due to his handling of the economy which resulted in some of the financial world quoting NZ as having a rockstar economy, what we need now is another JK but I for one cannot see where he or she is coming from.

It's an increasingly unattractive role, the right person for the job is likely in hiding and will remain so. I certainly would be!
