The man who set the drill up and the man who advises farmers in Ireland said no , he's not from Delmonte, but he seems to know his stuff

Ah, you should probably have had a Simtech with sponge rollers in. 😛
They allow you to drill mixes of very different sized seeds without problems. I DD bird seed strips every year with a mix of barley, mustard and slug pellets.

I’d have thought a mix with slug pellets would be more uniform than one with lime prills , as has been suggested by several.

cows have been on a reseed, by night, rape and grass by day, previously they were 4yr ley by night, the milk went up 2 litres a cow, seeing that we take care, to try and pick a good ley, and are fussy about drilling it, the difference is 'bottom' ground, the other not a lot higher up, but you can see the dead bits, on the lynches in the field !

Have you ever tried A Cockle Part type ley . Never used it myself , but supposed to be good on drier land
Other than that have a look at Base Ryegrass

I just love it , just 8 days and its greening over ,
Where have you been all my life , all those days riding furrows with an old Nuffield, ruptured myself in the end , days and days breaking my back picking stones, all i need now is a deckchair , so i can sit in the field and watch it grow [emoji23]
Ime sure its the slag in the slits [emoji23]

tried the old cockle park, reverted to small leafed white clover, by 3 rd year.
on a different subject, we grow kale for winter, and redstart for summer, this year, the kale has 'beaten' the rape, is there any reason, other than tradition, that says, kale for winter, not summer ? Very little difference in price, as 2kg/acre kale, but drill rape at 7/8 kg !
