Where i am we mill all our own wheat an barley though a disc mill must run nearly 24hrs a day somtimes

We have a lot of Clients using our Caravaggi Mobile mill mixers, 5,8,12 & 16 tonne models, we have 300 out as far away as three in NZ!

Using mobile mill and mix wagons does have the advantage of being able to load in and mix at the same time, apply materials for to eliminate dust in the finished product and they also generate very little dust in work.

I have a mobile mill on order for mixing pig feed on 4 farms.
I aim to offer b&b contracts that also allow the farmer to sell me grain on site at a premium to normal ex farm price. Hopefully a win win

Sounds good. I presume this is mounted on a rigid truck chassis? The ability to convert your own grain into a valuable feed and then convert that into pigs is handy given the nature of the arable world these days.

You would think, alas it’s not as straight forward as that, many “large mobile mill companies” may run at a lower mill cost and make the money on the minerals they insist on supplying as a package!

It is on a Mercedes Actros truck mount
caravaggi is the other option which is also very good and much simpler But requires a tractor to drive it
Neither are cheap when all costs are included but can save a lot on bought in feed and also allow us to control tightly what our ingredients are. This year I have beans, barley, oats, wheat produced on farm and will have maize, soya, cooked cereal, wheat feed, biscuit meal, minerals etc bought in.

This I agree with, the UK compound industry has had to accept the cost of what they do and pass that on in cost or quality or even both! There isn’t the money in any livestock sector to pay that price tag! IMHO.

Couple of mobile mill mix lorries come to this area plus a few contractors with mobile mills/crimpers that offer dry rolling services.
Lot of my DB Agri customers use the mobile mill men to mix in our protein concentrate and make up their own rations and blow into bins.
