I just love it , just 8 days and its greening over ,
Where have you been all my life , all those days riding furrows with an old Nuffield, ruptured myself in the end , days and days breaking my back picking stones, all i need now is a deckchair , so i can sit in the field and watch it grow [emoji23]
Ime sure its the slag in the slits [emoji23]View attachment 898657
yes i like it (y) honestly,
... but what about those gaps between the rows ?

tried the old cockle park, reverted to small leafed white clover, by 3 rd year.
on a different subject, we grow kale for winter, and redstart for summer, this year, the kale has 'beaten' the rape, is there any reason, other than tradition, that says, kale for winter, not summer ? Very little difference in price, as 2kg/acre kale, but drill rape at 7/8 kg !
Its been a right funny year , I put some rape in with 40 acres of grass
seed come fantastic , sheep been on it for 2 weeks , but not one plant of rape as come, it was like it was never there, one or two have said they had trouble with rape this year
We used to grow a lot of Kale for winter use , field was buried in muck then ploughed , seen Kale 6 ft high some years . Maris Kestrel And Thousand Headed Kale

Did the rape emerge? Did you check it regularly to see if flea beetle were attacking it (shot holed leaves), as they can clear it in days? Any slug damage on seedlings, as untreated they will decimate a crop?

Only a few then they disappeared, it was back in that drought , had nearly 4 weeks without rain , did it not like the dry weather perhaps

Some of our fields look like the bits in-between the rows nearly after being grazed!

Anybody go straight into a sprayed off ley with a power harrow prior to seeding?

@Derrick Hughes ..... appreciate the efforts to keep us informed of your reseeding, just one tip if you don't mind..... hold the phone horizontally when taking a video, fills the screen much better. (y)

I have done with P Harrow and disc in the past cosmetically looks a mess!
Came ok as it was italian mix to clean the field up.
Best reseed I did was many years ago with a Howard rotavator.
Came beautiful after.

rotavators sort of died out, ag wise, we had a 4ft one, took forever to do a field, but, as you say, did a good job !
