what grinds your gears

Not sure
When the Mrs asks what i would like for tea. So OK I’ll have smoked salmon on brown bread with a touch of lemon juice for starters followed by beef Wellington and cold new potatoes.
We have only got ham and salad? Well why not just say so then and get it on the table.

A certain person here is like that. I come in after a long day, "flipping starving" go to cupboard/fridge, "what would you like to eat?" 30 seconds thought... "a bacon roll would be good, or ham and cheese would be fine, unless we have some decent crisps knocking about? I could knock back a decent bit of cake as well" the list carries on...
"sorry we haven't got any of that"
Then why ask me?!
"so what have we got then?! I could eat a horse right now"
"well we certainly haven't got one of them!"
I'm glad we haven't or it would probably severely grind my gears as well.

I`m not a frequent flyer on the "sick list", not had any time off sick in 15 years but this has fudged me and is really grinding.

Bursitis.

Particularly the trochanteric bursa.

Stand up it hurts, sit down it hurts, walk it hurts, sleep on it it walks you up.

Steroid injection next.....
Corticosteroid injection

Had it at Christmas, eventually went with strong ABs. You have my sympathy.

Hmm, I know the feeling, from my keeper I get the ever-so-innocent: 'What shall we eat tonight?'

Now this can be taken in one of several ways, it could mean 'What would you like me to make?'; or it could be a genuine question if we'd planned a takeaway or going out, or... it could mean 'I'm sick of cooking, what will you cook tonight?' (and it is usually that last one*)

If I take it as the first, I'll go through the routine you outline. If it's the second, fair question. But, when it's the third, it's usually when I'm covered in sh!t of one sort or another, am shattered after labouring, or have grease and oil up to my elbows from servicing whatever - and this is without fail.

My point is that, the second one aside, you can't win. :(

*as it happens, I don't mind cooking, if I have the ingredients to hand, and enough time

Tractor drivers using their phones whilst driving! I cannot believe there are still those that do, but I have seen one recently, and the person I had a refreshing chat* with this morning had seen two drivers out their way doing the same.

It isn't big, it isn't clever. It is illegal to use your mobile phone when you are driving. There are no excuses about time, the weather, bullying employer, or whip cracking client. No excuses about personal or family matters. No excuses at all.

*(I haven't seen them for ages, and they happened to stop for a natter on seeing me out to see stock. That's such a rare thing these days that anyone actually stops and says hello, it's really cheered me up :) )

Wasn’t supposed to be a thumbs up like for your post...... I think I’ve got it too. What’s the difference in feeling between bursitis and knackered hips? I can feel some health insurance claim brewing!

I thought it was a prerequisite to own a new tractor now. Passed 5 on their phones yesterday in 30min journeyv

It's as though they binge on video of farming in other countries that don't have the same laws that we do. I'm not sure the age of the tractor makes much difference, tbh.

An additional :banghead: is resumption of slinging the tractor and whatever it's drawing up onto verges to let other vehicles pass, rather than using pull-ins.

These are younger drivers, so should have taken their formal tractor driving tests, yet they drive with little consideration for the law, and other people's property.

You can have knackered hips (osteoarthritis) and still live a normal life.
Trochanteric bursitis feels like someone is pushing hot needles into your femur on a good day.
On a bad day it feels like you have taken a .303 in the hip.
Can`t lay on the sat side at all and it wakes you up if you roll over.
Driving is "not good" for it so I have just found out.
Ice packs become your best friend.......

Would be a damn sight harder to see a tractor where the driver wasn't on the phone...

Thanks, sounds like my hips are shot although they do ache more when I'm stationary than moving. Hope they use plenty of anaesthetic for those steroid injections.

Reg Huntley (bionic farm supply rep) when he last called before he died said that his surgeon told him the most common surgery for farmer are hips, knees, backs and hernias where they've worn them out and usually messed them up waiting too long to get it fixed.

ya, my old man and my mother were like that. Too late doing anything and it ruined their later years really.

It is what irritates us about my mum she complains about the pain but refuses to speak to the doctor, she then says when you can't get an appointment due to covid that she would but cant. Then says she will ring up when her brother and sister tell her to speak to the doctor but then comes up with every excuse why she hasn't. It drives us bonkers yet woe betide any of us if we don't see a doctor about a problem.

“Do you have an account” no I want to walk in and pay for it. My credit card is linked to Apple Pay so I can pay to its credit limit and I have my phone with me all the time.
I don’t want an account just give me reasonable discount for paying for it there and then and let’s be done.

Oh and the local engineering spot that gives worse discount when paying for it there and then vs using an account. That’s why I use bearingboys online now

I had a lump on my elbow, (forgotten what it is called) but no change after 3 weeks.
Wife suggested Swedish Bitters. Got some and rubbed a little on few times a day for few days.
Lump went down and then disappeared.
Obviously a different problem but worth a try. I ordered it online.
Hope this helps.
