Very mixed here. We have a few days where we cut stuff way above expectation. Then do a day on a sh!t block. It’s quite the rollercoaster. Nothing will lose us money though even on rented and contract farmed land. We made some good decisions on premium contracts for distilling barley early on.
im looking forward to it all being over though. Took delivery of 50t of electrum malting barley ready for September drilling which was nice.

I can confirm the straw yield is good on most. The ground being contract farmed is a lot poorer crop than the owner run places. Poverty spec farming I call it.

Also it would have to be little bales. Growing seed crops here we don't let other balers on the place so id bale it with my small baler.

Plus I've had 1 pm already so fairs fair I'll see how that goes.

Just a few maybe, but i have bloody loads. no idea what to do with the rest of the field. If i spray with roundup now will it be knackered for seed?

Yes, It’s too hot to get air through at the moment. In which case just leave it in a heap.
Moisture meters work by measuring electrical conductivity. A couple of green grains will conduct easily and gave a false high reading

Roundup won’t damage Germination of the grains that are already dry. You may need to slightly raise the seed rate to compensate for Home grown seed. If it’s a seed contract, speak to the merchant, before applying to get permission.

We have more than that Skyfall. It’s the small late tillers.
Ex potatoes we Have left it 4 days to do the Peas. So having another go today.
Ex Beet ours was about the same as your photo. It’s on Air floor under the fan but most of the air is lost on peas that are Only 4” deep.
It’s going to go today

what ever, will go in dryer or wait for air floor depending.

Yes agreed, just finished all my SW this morning, just got to be patient now. All fresh new tillers, the main crop is ripe and dry but too many green tillers to cut, so glypho it is.

Made a start on the last field of december drilled wheat after beet.
Considering its december drilled, on light reclaimed land I'm gobsmacked.
It's too early to know what its yielding but if theres as much grain as there is straw then itll do bloody well.

Dd reckons it's nice to be cutting something with some moisture in it, this is at 14 the rest has been between 10 and 13%.
