Farm bike - do you have one?

That’s really interesting.

Like I’ve said I enquired a couple of years ago however the importers were just a bike shop and mixed reviews with their service.

If the UBCO is with ag ATV suppliers and the grant would get the cost down to £3-4k then I’d certainly be having a serious look again.

Our eldest daughter will be 16 next year so assuming it could be ridden on a provisional license then that would be useful.

Dealer down Country, in Cardigan for you too, Yale... Your daughter will love you I can tell you now :) My daughter was so made up whe I got her a Yam scooter, kept it about for my son (who tried to kill it) than I sold it as a knock down price to a YT starting milking on a farm near my SiL and desperate for wheels.

I cannot see the UBCO price being that "sensible" though, even after the Grant is factored in, but John Yuille can give us the info as they know more.

The issue is the UBCO, pushing £6600? Knock of VAT, 5500, knock off Grant bringing it in around 4800? Figure are top of head How much for a 125 trailie....?

Yep, but a sensible and fun day out for her. Better training than any of us wrinklies had!! Turning up on an UBCO would make the trainers look! ;-)
John from Atv services was in Young Farmers with me, as was Derek his main sidekick.
As to the colour, you would wonder who chose white !
But stockboard, and some tech screws will adapt the back carrier soon enough for more practical use !

Good Afternoon All and thanks to Jeremy for suggesting I jump in for this thread.

As way of introduction I am John Yuille and for my sins I am MD of ATV Services as well as director of UBCO Bikes UK Ltd.
We came across the UBCO 2x2 in the early part of the year and managed to get one shipped in before the pandemic struck. Initially I intended for ATV Services to be a dealer to the new European arm of UBCO, but things progressed to where we are now as UK Distributor and of course ATV Services were our first dealer appointment!

The management team at ATV were looking for a new off road transport option for usage in our core market of Ag as well as other sectors. There was a thought / concern we were seeing larger and larger ATV coming with higher and higher price tags and wanted to readdress thing a little or at least have an option and if we were to truly "think differently" renewables had to be a consideration. After a few air miles and far to long on the internet we found UBCO.

Thourgh pandemic we have formed a new business and have appointed 9 dealers in the UK including ourselves. These dealers are not motorcycle shops but predominantly Utility ATV Specialists, who understand Ag and what our customers need, so we all take part exchanges and all know what VAT is and know what we need to do to look after farmers!

At the moment we have just ordered our first batch of machine that are due to come into dealer stock in mid September and these shall be both the ADVENTURE (road legal white bike) and the WORK (off road black bike). We shall offer 3 battery choices 2.1kw, 2.6kw and 3.1kw (to quell the range anxiety).

Prices shall be announced over the next could of weeks but it is fair to say that prices start at £5k plus vat for a WORK BIKE with a 2.1kw battery. I appreciate it is not for nothing, but when we look at what we are supplying, lack of fuel cost, minimal service costs and the back up of a proper dealer I think we are "in the hunt". The government grant is an option, but there is a fair bit of leg work and tweaks needed that I cannot promise shall be quick, with the whole UK government focused on the pandemic, we are at the back of a very long queue.

I would be delighted to give you any more info I can and if I cannot tell you the answer I will know a man that does, also if you are interested in UBCO and all thing NZ Ag can I suggest you register and take part in the Farmer Guardian Live Webcast https://www.fginsight.com/nzagritech on the evening of the 19th August, UBCO CEO is taking part and is a really interesting guy and I shall be on the keyboard to answer any questions you may have.

Anyone want to know any more, or where there local dealer will be (a little pre launch info) give me a shout 07976 037975.

John

Do let us know guide pricing...

As said here, Govt leccy grant and VAT off, will make it look good! What the grant on a bike is though, I cant recall....

Found some info. "the bike needs qualification for the Plug-In Grant, which offers 20% off the up-front price, up to a maximum of £1,500. " A grand off the UBCO and teh VAT, and it's cheap...
UBCO 2x2 seems to only have a 12month warranty and to qualify for the grant scheme it need a 24 month warranty, which is a shame.

The product itself meets and exceeds the lifecycle warranty, we just need adjust from a period to a usage amount. We are on this but things are moving pretty slowly given the current climate.
I looked pretty seriously at getting UBCO a couple of years ago when the road legal version was just being released. I chickened out, but I'm still very tempted by one so I will watch how you get on with interest. Best of luck with your new venture

I still don’t know if I could justify near £5k.

There’s a lot of machines out there for less money.

The engineering would have to be top notch and bombproof for that sort of money.

Absolutely, always something cheaper available in all sectors. We certainly believe the 2wd is unique and it is certainly built for our environment. There is never a harm in trying and when our dealer near you has stock there shall be opportunities to test and prod near you which might help, good components aren't cheap and cheap components aren't often that good. ;)

Never a truer word. As anyone who has seen, and experienced, the worse that China can throw at us!!

One thing I like about the UBCO is that it's been around a few years, and is being developed still. So much better than being at the "cutting edge", which can get bloody! :sneaky: Very much looking forward to a test ride next month....

I would sell my farm bike if anyone wanted to make me an offer . I built it myself from all new parts including the engine , rides really well and stands up on its own so hard to fall off . 11hp pull start engine , centrifugal clutch . Hyd rear brake . 20 mph top speed but gearing could be changed . Really good fun and gets loads of attention at shows and rallies . PM
Me if interested.
