2015 Isuzu dmax

Hi new here and looking for help. 2015 isuzu dmax had ABS light on and traction light, local garage say front left sensor needs replaced but they cant get one. Isuzu want 500+vat for the job. I think I have found one on the web but does it need reset after replacing it or will it clear it's self? I have no abs or traction at the moment till I get it fixed. Any help would be great thanks.

should clear itself when it sees all four wheels turning at the same speed

Out of interest how much is the sensor off the internet, my dmax also occasionally shows these two warning lights and if they become permanently on I will need to sort it for the mot.
 
my old dmax used to put those lights on in damp weather. I always blamed where the dealer had joined into the wiring loom for the trailer lights.
Was eventually proved right by an auto electrician a poorly thought out place they'd got into .
Feel your pain in owning a dmax. Not many pattern parts available and Isuzu know how to charge !

That sounds about right for a five year old Isuzu. I had one fail on a 1993 Trooper in about 1998 and the part was superseded and no longer available and the new system was incompatible with the old [same style] model. Ended up putting a square of silage tape over the dash light so it was no longer visible. That got it through the MOT for the next ten years until it was scrapped.

No good today I'm afraid, because the MOT has changed so that every light fitted must now work on the ignition-on test sequence.

No the part can be sourced for £50z the dealer wants £500 to source it and fit it and probably warrant their work. You do it yourself and put a couple of hours of your time. Your choice. This dealer bashing is getting too muck on here! No body is forcing anyone to buy from dealer/main dealer etc...

He is the dealer and as such a common part such as this should be in stock. You are telling me it takes £ 450 to fit a pretty simple sensor and harness.... you have been working for the French for too long

No but it costs to fit a d you need to add a fair profit margin if your sole business is selling and serving vehicles... you have been a farmer too long! .
You can fit it yourself, no gun to your head
Edit, parts don’t just appear on the shelf....

It is seemingly an hours job to fit the part so assuming 2 hours of labour at a hundred pounds an hour ( surely enough to maintain a profit ) plus the part yet the dealer wants £500. In my book that is gross overcharging and is precisely why some dealers ( not all luckily) deserve the flak they cop on here. You deal with farmers for a living as do I, have you met one yet who doesn’t require value for money from his business contacts?

Everyone wants value for money for their business. I don’t run a car/commercial garage so can’t comment. You pays your money and takes your pick.

Totally agree, and you are right in saying a lot people on here are give main dealers a lot of stick but look at it from a customers point of view. We are paying labour and part mark up rates that are going up far in excess of inflation yet the main dealers drive to maximise profit has meant that parts are no longer stocked, even for fast moving lines and labour rates are multiple times what we know these fitters area being paid often to fund elaborate dealerships and company expansion. All farmers want is good old fashioned service at a reasonable price, something I fear that the ag supply industry is fast forgetting. When subs go and everybody will be looking to cut costs, the companies that supply value will be most farmers preferred choice.

As an example,
The wife very midst Volvo XC70 needed a 70,000 service. Was quoted £450+ vat... I researched on the Volvo forums and folks said they could do it then selves for £150 ish... however. I’m busy and not the best mechanic. The wife could break a sledge hammer so she can’t do it. Local family run garage did it. Gave her a courtesy car. Warranted the work and stayed late to allow her to collect it after work so she could maximise her working day . She can earn up to £350 per hour for her design time.... so to us it was actually not that bad a price. Again, pays your money. Takes your pick.
APOLOGIES for going off topic.
perhaps buy part from dealer, pay a bit extra to get advice from workshop them for it yourself and let us all on here know how?

Or support the local garage who will do the job at a sensible rate, which is what I always choose to do. I am not sure when a local main dealer figured out they can charge more than I pay my vet for his time despite his many years of complex animal physiology training and specialist equipment but it’s my turn to apologise for going off topic. My opinion is this main dealer model is heading for trouble as recession will inevitably reduce sales and peoples ability to pay. Your wife must be a talented designer if she can command that hourly rate👍

She is very very good and very humble. We bought the business 8 years ago and took it from bankruptcy to where it is today. Blood sweat tears and mr Barclay card. You work had and it pays off

Well slightly off topic. But got one in the post from Japanese 4x4 parts for 70 delivered. Hopefully be here in 3-4days, he assures me it will work but will post on here if it does. Fingers crossed as I would rather pay 280 for all 4 that the potential of 2k.

Changed the sensor and after a short drive it cleared the two orange lights, for ABS and traction control lights. Tested them and ABS is working but it would appear the traction control is not. The light is off though any ideas anyone?
