We planted a mustard cover mid July and it’s now going to pod. How long is a mustard plants cycle? When could we expect to harvest it?

I've not done it, but found the data sheets provided by the Alberta Government to be quite helpful with niche crops. They have one on mustard here: https://open.alberta.ca/dataset/574...stard-production-alberta-143-20-1-2010-01.pdf which has info on harvesting.
Obviously some of the info is for a different climate to ours, so it may not cut the mustard...

I have a mustard catch crop (only 4 acres) which i hope to harvest, i reckon it will be a November harvest.
The weather will detemine if it reaches proper maturity !.
I just hope i get enough seed so that i can get it through the drier, i expect it to be high moisture and it will not store for very long unless it is nice and dry.
In my limited experience of growing mustard as a cover gone to seed, I'd say every year for the next 5 years.

We find that mustard seed produced at this time of year is not viable. The plants produce pods and 'seeds' but they come to nothing.

I autocast mustard in early August on set aside one year was in flower end of October even got mentioned on a previous forum when someone went by fro out of county as rape in flower
Frost killed it off and had no problems with regrowth
Is it worth anything ?

I knew there was a thread about this somewhere. Did you combine your mustard @warksfarmer ? I put some in at the end of a field earlier this year and it's in flower now, and it got me wondering if I could get some seed back from it.

No we didn’t but I’ve planted some again so might have a go this time.
@warksfarmer how are you destroying your mustard? what cults ahead of next crop? we threw some on ahead of a thunderstorm in early august and its now 3 feet tall in flower.

Erm depends on soil type and weather. Topping and glyphosate then drill direct where possible.
I’m looking for a disc/press combo though as I’ve used one this year and it’s done a great job set at 1-2 inches deep. Not deep enough to disturb buried grass seeds but deep enough to chop and mix the mustard. This is some planted about 5 weeks ago. It’s in flower today.

Always a spring crop. I know a lot of people don’t like because it offer not proper rooting, but it’s cheap and if you top it the biomass it goes into the ground anyway. This years we’ve got mix 70% mustard and 30% raddish.
