It's looking good for 4 years! Got told red only lasts for 2-3 but can stretch to 4. To me that looks like it will stretch to a 5th? It's not very popular around me for some reason, I cant actually think of anyone other than us who has any!

Planted spring 2017.
Was the top option.
Have another field that was planted 2018, was a disaster full of fat hen and looked horrible, nearly ploughed it,

Glad I didn't!

Festeoliums and red have replaced wholecrop in rotation. Only whole crop planted now is as a cover for spring reseed after a winter forage crop.

I just always make sure mine are full when they go out there. Once they finish white clvoer/ryegrass they get a bale of silage to eat and then convert them over to the red clover
A little bit of roughage will stop it .We have had bloat one year with white clover .If it's grown quickly after drought beware.

We lost a cow on regrowth of winifred. Must have been just too leafy. Never seen cows blow as fast!

Just ploughed it under this year as bug food

cutting to day, 15 acre redclover/ ryegrass ley, spring sown, 3rd cut, so a 'cut' behind, nice stuff, but the clover is either really good, or sadly lacking, and i'm not sure why, as it shouldn't be, could it be, drill air blown, whether the clover seed came out as a different weight/size, certainly very thick round the headland, and in the thinner 'stony dry bits'. Next field to drill, we are going to drill clover on the cross drill, any better ideas ?

The Acrobat is alive & well & living in South Africa :D
Flash back to the 70`s, those pics. Was it Vikon that made it ?
Yes yes. Alive and kicking. Wish I could get a merger but the prices are ridiculous. The power rakes just don't last and maintenance get sky high. This one is made by Enorossi

There's a guy down here in Devon selling the Enrossi takes now. How do you get in with it in a heavy crop?

Probably 75% of the rakes in this country are that style. They work fine for light hay.

Avoid them in anything else. They rake up a lot of stones and can’t handle a wet heavy cutting. They also wad up the ryegrass nicely to plug the baler. It’s very annoying that the guy who does our bales has one.

It tall heavy cover crops expect to double rake every row. I can’t express how annoying this is.

son was a bit worried he'd cut to tight, reckon its grown 2 ins since cutting monday !
but all our grass, has been on a go slow since late spring, it's certainly in overdrive now, we can see growth, 12 hrs behind the cows, hard job to keep the grass, in the cow, butter fat still holding at 5+, and a 1p rise for october !
