EU threatens to ban UK ag and food exports to them

Are you not being a bit harsh, especially as it's Battle of Britain day. Which IMO was a truly pivotal moment in WW2 not only by showing the Germans we were not going to be a pushover, but relaying that message over to the US where a great many influential politicians and business leaders thought the UK was finished and were looking to a future with Hitler instead.

I’m pretty sure there were a few Scots flying planes that day too. And Canadians, Australians etc.

I do indeed, but if I was a Tesco pizza or a coop lasagne, I have to trade with them on their terms.
Not really , you tell them how much you want and they either accept it or not . you're not mates just doing bizz .
I think you're getting confused with own label products which is a whole different ball game , and the road to ruin .

Think you've all missed the point, which is red tape and regulation 10-15% of revenue for GDPR is a major cost for every Company, and affects competitiveness. If Mitsubishi complied with strict EU emissions, they would not be leaving.

All the EU has is a protected market closed shop v the rest of the World, only one winner.........

How to beat the Competition, regulate them out of the market, I don't think so..........

Who cares if they sell their cars in Europe or not, that's for them to decide if they want to follow the rules or not. As for red tape, the UK is going to be drowning under the stuff by this time next year, along with the associated army of clipboard warriors, as every EU official body has to be replicated with it's new UK equivalent, plus the tens of thousands of Border force and export import personnel required.

UK hasn't gone back on any treaties with the EU yet, have we? Nobody plays poker any more? Europe stopping eating fish? It'll be a bluff, but don't tell the EU. Let's just declare war on 'em and have done with it.
That’s the big issue with these negotiations. They are being made in too public an arena and far too much commentary. While we, the voting public or at least some of us think we should know everything before it’s agreed sometimes we know too much. Better to let the elected mob get on with it. I’m sure things would be different if this wasn’t so much in the public gaze. Hey ho, that’s modern life!!

This kind of childish arrogance is why we are in a shïthole. You assume that the English are somehow superior to others and have no need to cooperate with them to attain scale and strength in negotiations with other parties. The days of gunboat diplomacy and The Empire have long gone and much of the rest of the world look at you with distain if not worse. They have long had enough of the English arrogance, from Australia, Canada, Africa to America and Asia.
To get anywhere with these trading blocks we need to be in our own trading block, which the EU certainly is, and a very effective and powerful one. Now, of course, 'we' have decided to be outside even this, our neighbour's trading block.

What do you expect Little England to achieve outside and how? That graph posted earlier is an excellent example or damned lies and statistics in that although most of the EU has a trading surplus with the UK, they are many with a relatively small proportion of their individual country's exports coming to the UK while we are reliant for the vast majority of our exports going to the EU. Anyone who cannot see our overwhelming weakness in this position is either deluded or too thick to understand business and trade. It is going to hurt the UK far more than it is going to hurt them. All trade between us will be badly effected of course and nobody wins, just that some will be badly injured for possibly generation into the future.
You should leave the sinking ship quick, don't want to be on board with us English do you ducky

So it creates lots of jobs then 😁

Polish ? or did they only join in later ? apparently they were bloody good

There were several Polish squadrons in the Battle. Late fathers nephew flew with one (not a Pole though) survived the battle only to be killed six months later in a car crash on his way back to the base. :banghead:

I definitely didn’t say the English were superior to anyone, because I would of offended somebody by using such a term ‘English’!! I was merely trying to put across that we shouldn’t be afraid of change and surely there is massive potential out there in the wider world for new trade deals to be struck!! Trying to negotiate a deal with the EU and apologising for the country voting to leave in the first sentence isn’t a very good starting point as proven by Teresa Mays limp wristed approach!! I’m sorry if you didn’t vote to leave but some of us thick ones did!!

C'mon, you don't believe that do you ? The UK is a fair, safe Country that believes in fair play and open market conditions. The City is the largest trading area, 2nd only to Wall Street in the World, and British standards are copied the World over. Our weakness is also our strength, we buy - lots, and many large manufacturers in the EU are reliant on the UK, so no deal, BMW's Audi's, etc go up in price due to tariffs, who cares ? Sales plummet, and many people lose their jobs. The UK dealers find an alternative marque to sell, and the World keep turning.

Change does not come without a degree of pain.

On paper we need them, more than they need us, but no deal, and ask the French fishermen, or car manufacturers that question.

Our Country, it's ambitions and capabilities have been stifled by the EU, and in the words of a great PM.

No, no, no !!!!

OT, but it’s pretty poor that so many equate “England” and “UK”. You guys do know that England hasn’t been a nation in its own right for over 300 years, don’t you? Jeez, you’d think you were all Americans!

Who the hell spends anything like that percentage of revenue on data protection? It's a nonsense figure.
