Massey 6180 4wd not engaging

Hello everyone i was wondering if someone could help me figure this out. I have a massey 6180 1997 8000hrs but in great condition. the 4wd will not engage but lights and everything seems normal. I checked the shaft and couplers, I jacked up 1 wheel at the front when tractor not running and the wheel wont turn, then I start the tractor and the wheel will turn which tells me the 4wd pack is good and the solenoid is working, however when the the tractor is running there is 12v permanently at the solenoid plug, i also swapped the 4wd switch with the Difflock switch and swapped solenoids etc but still the same. Is there a relay or sensor somewhere that sends the signal? any photos or help would be great thanks.

You can’t just test for power when stationery as when stationery 4wd will be on anyhow, plus it comes on with handbrake. For 4wd to fail on them is sone form of mechanical failure rather than electrical or hydraulic really. My bet would still be on the propshaft couplings

Would Switchin solinoids wouldnt work as the diff needs power to activate it but the 4wd requires power to stay of and when the power disconnects it engages 4wd. Is this not right?

when stationary and tractor not running NO power at solenoid which means 4wd IS engaged and when tractor engine started there IS power at the solenoid permanently, handbrake OFF at all times. as in my thread above I checked the couplers and shaft. If it was the shaft and coupler when I had the 1 wheel jacked of the ground with tractor engine off the wheel would have turned.

The solenoids are all the same as far as I know but when I swapped the diff solenoid and the 4wd solenoid I also swapped the plugs from 1 to the other so its essentially proving the solenoids are operational.

Easiest thing to do is jack all 4 wheels off ground remove solenoid wire for 4/d then start and engage gear if front wheel's don't turn you have as has been stated a mechanical problem....

Problem solved thankfully there were 2 wires under the cab at ecu Hardened and broken So re terminated them and when I press 4wd switch it now kills power to solenoid. Thanks for the help everyone
