Greasing plough boards

I spray my lathe , mill, drill etc with ACF 50 . Bloody expensive but a superb product , designed for protecting aircraft against corrosion . A 5L can is about 60 quid but would last years doing a thin coat on plough mouldboards . Do the combine header with it also .
It will be getting used again next week so will be ok.Some other bright spark told me that on this forum and it is bloody useless

Don’t think I’ve ever used grease. We use wd-40. Keeps it rust free for a few months then bring plough in when we have space

Would throwing a sheet over the plough not be enough like the Tiny amount of surface rust ours gets soon disappears in the first field

Gallon of waxoyl is £20
I use just over half a liter to coat the 4f rev 2x
The 5l can will coat the plough about 8x

Be careful chaps, i religiously used to oil the boards then one evening i decided to change the points. One of the nuts was tight so stood on the beam to get better leverage. Long story short i slipped where the oil had dripped off the body onto the beam and ended up on the floor, well actually ended up in A&E with fractured eye socket and cheekbone and jaw, cracked 4 ribs dislocated shoulder, damaged nerves and have no feeling on right side of face after 4 years, it might come back one day it might not so i was told and the plate holding my eye socket together gives some grief on a cold morning. I dont bother oiling it now, the sand soon burns through after a few rounds and if its going to be stood for a while its generally put in the dry

Semi liquid grease, plus a bit of extra fresh oil mixed in. Can't stand to see rusty boards.

Grease boards then put old fertiliser over and leave outside, seems to work

Nor me, that's why I waxoyl and leave the plough inside
I mix grease and kerosene 50:50 and stir with a drill stirrer.
Then spray it on with an oil spray gun.

With the cost of ploughs they need to be inside.even my rolls live inside and nothing ever has a night out.

Thin wax oil down with a but of standard thinners! Thin enough to go through a paraffin gun. thinners evaporates leaves a nice thin coat of waxoyl that after a couple of meters of ploughing has all come off
