For example carbon credits and audits. We should just refuse point blank to do it as an industry. What could they do about it?
But no, certain people are only too willing to ingratiate themselves and drag us all down. I have never seen an industry so weakly and meekly lead as farming.
We should take example of what the French do and kick up merry hell.

Like Recreational air travel should be taken and shoved up the " leaders" arsholes . Imo :sneaky:

We get the politicians we deserve.
Fact is, most farmers aren't that fussed. They only pay their subs so as to get access to discounts on the next 4x4.
They make all the right noises on here, but as soon as you give them a specific thing they could do that would take all of 5 minutes, nope you can forget it. I have tried several times, the number of people who actually lift a finger is the square root of sweet fa.
Not hungry enough.

I was thinking about this sort of stuff just the other day. It occurred to me that we are probably still suffering from the genetic effects of 2 world wars in the 20th century. We lost well over a million young men in those two, and they would be among the best people society had to offer at the time. Taking that amount of quality people out of the gene pool has to have an effect on the quality of future generations. We have been governed by the Post War generation since the 90s, and its noticeable that the quality of governance has dropped significantly in that time. Thatcher was a pre-war child, Major born in wartime, and Blair was born in the 50s. If the quality at the very top is declining, it will be the same down throughout society.

Well they say the office definition of depression is suppressed anger. It’s the sort of thing you feel as you sit through an RT inspection and get asked about your rodent control environmental impact assessment etc. Basically I put poison down and rats eat it and die, end of. But no we need chapter and verse, and you just think to yourself who the hell signed us up for this bollox.

Something in that. Our last “ war veteran” vicar who drove a tank at the battle El Alamein used to screw up paperwork received from the diocesan office and throw it over his shoulder at PCC meetings. Now we gold plate requirements and everything has ground to a halt and become too expensive.

The whole carbon credit thing is the biggest load of bo**ocks out there but it seems we're all stuck with it. Trump appears to be against such things but the world seems to hate him.

As for the other stuff we all have things we don't want or like to do. It's not exclusive to farming, I suppose you have to decide if it's worth it or not?

I was also taught by teachers who fought in the war. They had proper varnished wooden legs and such like. There were no Ofsted inspections, no SATS, minimal bureaucracy but we all did just fine. Why did we need layer upon layer of control and monitoring added on top? I don’t think it’s helped TBH. It’s about personal attitude more than anything, not about high level micro management.

It's almost as if we can't work together, and our history of setting up coops then flogging them for a quick quid has played right into the hands of the supermarkes.
Aye, grandfather slightly regretted introduction of MMB as he was near town and got a good price but he said on balance it was a good thing as the folk up country got a decent price. Why the heck it was scrapped beats me.

I think we have to decide collectively whether we will accept it or not, rather than individually deciding we are going to have throw in the towel because it’s overwhelming us.
