We successfully got a Claydon on round 2 but we had to buy the discs to swap with the tines. Unfortuanately we weren't made aware of it when we ordered but the RPA wouldn't process the claim until we had bought the discs. This is a nonsense really as you don't need the discs to zero till into stubbles although we have made use of them to put some cover crop into some trashy residues.
I would advise to check with RPA what is eligible before you commit, as things do change. I believe a Claydon without discs was acceptable in round 1.

I does specify in the document.
For instance I have put in 4 UV filters. It did say maximum of x number per claim

Seems to contradict itself, as it says discs or tines in the prescription .
Doesn’t a Claydon and other drills do some cultivation before placing the seed , with the leading tine and the share itself.

I was looking for help to put gps steering on the self propelled sprayer to help with accuracy but as I read it now this isn't covered by the grant, but a digital weather station is , to the tune of a few grant, some things don't make sense.
Steering is available, but the actual grant is rubbish. You will also need to claim for a load of other stuff in order to get it.
Blooming stupid.
I got a 3m Moore in the first round, it was £22500 iirc

how have you got on with it?
Its ok, a good stepping stone at least, and the right machine at the time. I'm not convinced its any better than a Vaderstad Rapid for direct drilling really though (a late blue painted Moore is better imo) It is simple, easy to use and easy to pull, and puts seed in the ground. We built a low disturbance tine bar for it, to strip til drill with, which works pretty well.
The Guttler with floating rings doesn't cope well in sticky going, a row of press wheels would be better.
Grant dictated 3m, which is fine, and as much as we need, especially with the tines in.
If we so wish, we can upgrade after Sept 2023, not sure where we'll head next. Lots of the direct drills out there are too complicated, too expensive, or a one trick pony.
The Virkar or Weaving are on the shortlist at the moment

This may be a daft question, but do you have to match fund the grant or will they pay for the item in full provided it’s over same as the minimum claim?

So they pay 40% of the standard cost or is the standard cost the maximum they pay?
Was looking at the rate controller but you have to buy a screen also! Think they make it as hard as possible to put a claim together

.... I note the equipment must be kept for 5 years after the grant is claimed, whilst I am hoping to still be around myself... a long will change in the next 5 years, what happens to those who cease trading will they be forced to repay their grants after the farm dispersal sales?

In theory, if you get quoted less than standard cost you want to make an agreement with the supplier to bill you more and discount something else from them.
But in reality it never happens like that. These Grant's just push prices up!
