Quite a bit more than nuclear, if the figures in that article are to be believed - £220 vs £90, and nuclear doesn’t shut down when the weather gets nice.

The 9p for nuclear is the so called strike price. They are guaranteed this for each unit. These turbines are getting 22 p sub then 3-6p for each unit produced.
wholesale price of Electric has averaged around 4.5 p overbthe last few years, so the nuclear boys are getting a guaranteed twice the price.
in fact the subs on those NI turbines is nothing compared to the early FITs for Wind, fairly certain they are in the order of 50 odd pence just as some PV is. My own house is around 44p .
But from what I have seen of turbines, there is far more to it, than raking in the dosh, 2 I know well would not pay for themselves in 100 years at their current rate. In fact I cannot understand why the operator does not abandon them as servicing costs , must more than eat up any income from them

So New nuclear is priced at getting twice the current wholesale, but a third of wind/ early solar? What’s current nuclear on?

Think current Nuclear is just on regular wholesale. The energy market is complex as there are premiums for supply at different times. As far as I am aware only the renewables are guaranteed a fixed minimum premium.

Great article that lol. Risk free, really? Typical Mail using emotive words like raking in etc for a legal incentivisation scheme for a stated govt policy. Is the real story that NI had allowed the use of used turbines whereas Eng/Wal/Sco only allowed new? Also I love the use of "investigation" as if it's all been kept hush hush.

There are no brown envelope. The niro scheme is no more lucrative than the FIT scheme. Actually FIT pays more. I'm getting 19.2p per kw while FIT is over 21p

No but I do have contacts in the 2nd hand wind turbine market and know how the excellent Northern Ireland market worked for those who took advantage of it.
