They have a monthly auction different class of pigs at Dumfries , one this Monday but I can’t make it might go next month to scope it out .

Coloured mongrels. Kill most everything before it gets too old. Keep a few gilts from a litter and buy a young boar from the market then kill him for sausages when he's done the dirty deed.

I wouldn't have thought that the Dumfries area would have been crying out for a pig sale but iirc it's a relatively new innovation. Maybe @Nithsdale Farmer knows more?

There used to be pig sales regularly in Dumfries, when TR&L and H&H markets were side by side on the Whitesands. These sales now are relatively new, thanks to a new auctioneer seeing a gap... they seem popular by all accounts

Down our way, Salisbury had a pig sale alongside the sheep and cattle every few weeks, but it has been suspended due to Covid. I hope it will be back as it would be useful for selling on surplus piglets to help regulate the flow (from 3 saddleback sows)

Lauri OKanes in draperstown do a monthly sale. They are the only pig sale left in the north
