We have four secondhand chickens in an old garden shed, which forage around the place. So no, can be very inexpensive

Conversely, you can throw several million at the job. Probably get more eggs though

Same here, funny enough wifey and me were having a discussion on this this morning, I pointed out she'd done me over, as we got together when she was 29 in theory she had time to produce 14 off spring, in reality she's had 2, neither of which likes milking cows, if she'd had another 12, 11 of them might have wanted to milk, on the other hand as she pointed out none of them might have been that way inclined in which case I'd have been worse off than where I am, but...

It‘s the other way around here! We’ve got 3 boys, all farming mad (although two are 9 and one only 6). They can’t believe I let the dairy herd go in 2004 and have big plans to get going again. Hopefully I’ll be too old by then! 😂

A heifer and second Calver are likely to keep their shape but 14 !
