Anybody tried one?
I'm guessing its a Chinese offering?
Looks very competitively priced, but whether its up to farm work? I see a couple SW dealers selling them.

Any other utv/ quad electric options coming ? Isn't there a polaris Ranger in electric- is that available here?

Looks like they have been sold in the USA for a couple of years. There’s a few YouTube vids that are worth a look at.
Is there a dealer in Molton?

Not that I know of.
Dunkerswell nearest to me, or Crediton.
Also Holsworthy, Martin Pears, and Dorset.
They seem to have tempted a lot of dealers.

But whether its more a leisure/ smallholder type of build quality?

I tried one last year when mine went in for a service.
To be honest it’s not for me. But give it another 5 years and I think they’ll be getting there. Smaller than the usual Traxter/Gator. Would be great for grounds man of a large manor or around some stables. Feels a bit cheaply made. Has got some quality brakes! 30mph Max but pretty steady once you hit a bank. Has got H and L but don’t think I ever tried L. Can’t remember the range off the top of my head now 40 miles maybe. Its quite a advanced electric motor, it charges when braking and when your hitting the limiter. Im pretty sure they have either just done some updates or maybe chipped them so the power has increased since I tried it.
Mike Pryce Machinery supplied it.

I enquired with Phil about one 15 months ago, really fancied the concept for stock checking.

He said he would be passing so would drop one off for a demo........still waiting.

That's just bad planning. There IS an issue with electric machines around how to recover them if they run out of charge too far from a charging point but that is largely about better battery capacity and users getting used to how to monitor remaining charge.

The RAC now have a trial of a trailer battery bank, a bit like a giant phone powerbank, that they can use as a fast charger to help stranded cars. Quite how you'd get it to a UTV on a Welsh hillside is another issue though.

It's a big issue for heavy machines like tractors and heavy excavators that work off road. Run time is critical for these. I doubt that electric propulsion will ever really work for them generally (I know there are huge electric excavators working in mines but they are effectively static so have an umbilical cable power supply).

We have been running this for 4 seasons now. Main drawback is lack of rear suspension, but otherwise brilliant. Got it off Ebay, found lots of rust under the near-intact top coat paint, so stripped it down and sent for galvanising. Apparently it had been used for salting the car parks in Milton Keynes

So got a demo here.
In some ways its a toy compared to a "normal" utv, but actually I rather like it and think it might even suit our requirements.
Small and light for our wet ground. Intended as a second machine alongside the quad for running around the small scale pigs and poultry here, and as a safe and legal way of taking passengers (placement student here now) on jobs.
Generally reasonably well built I would say, though there's a few things a bit annoying that wouldn't take much to have been better. Mudguards are the first thing. Just like the Can Am quad, they're not wide enough and mud goes everywhere.
Also, the butt is very small, and could've been wider without affecting the overall width.
The footwell has a deep lip, and unless I'm missing something isn't going to be easy to wash out.

As @Downton_shep says it does indeed slow up considerably on a slope, especially loaded. But it does keep going, and seems to grip well. Pulled the chicken tractor with it, and I would say it handled it better than the 570 Can Am quad.
However it seems slower than it is (compared to driving the can am traxter at same speed we have here also on demo) which I think is because its both so quiet, and so smooth.

As far as spares and back up are concerned, I think the Barrus tie up should help on that front. Both the dealers I've spoken to claim to have not needed to touch the machines they have out, though they've only been over here maybe 18 months.

There is a new model in the pipeline which will be larger, and with lithium batteries, and therefore more power and range. This may well answer lots of the criticisms, though obviously will come at an increased price tag.
