What's your opinion on the tanco bale splitter
Was told the upwards cutting ones like Keltec are easier to work with, Tanco cuts down so kinda need to be moving or the split bale lands on the plastic, easier caught in a diet feeder too, just what I'm told.

Looked into getting one for this year with the film bales but we are managing to work them without ok.

Had a keltec to try the other day and glad I did. Hell of a lump and visibility from the tractor seat wasn't great. Don't think it suits our buildings. Guy that owns it loves it and he now uses it with a diet feeder. Tbh was ready to buy a keltec and got that chance to try that one with luck. Now want to compare it with the tanco type in our yard.

Salesman selling both, says the only way to sell them is leave them with a man for a week or so, uses it a couple of times & says it's no use, give him a week or so & won't want to part.
Handler here so visibility be a bit different to a tractor.

Our problem was opening bales & carrying them round the yard with net only, didn't think we would be able to do that with the film bales but working out ok so far on the few we have tried.

Who is this mythical salesman?

I wouldn't want it on anything smaller than the MX. The weight doesn't really concern me - it'll only be me driving plus its no different to a standard mower etc. I take things steady and won't be flat out across fields with it. But yes it is a fair lump
I find you cant quite get close enough to the dyke on 72" centre wheel track to make the most of it

Bought a new one of those nearly 5 yrs ago and wonder why they went back to the old style straight sides as opposed to the flanged sides on mine
Been pleased with mine btw

When I ordered it I expected it to have flared sides as they hold a ton more and look better I think. When it arrived it had straight sides so I contacted the boss man at Marshall to make sure it wasnt old stock. He said they went back to straight sides in 2018 as they had issues with some materials getting hung up and not going through the beaters. I suspect the straight sides are also cheaper and easier to manufacturer.

Still happy with it and it was alot cheaper than a side discharge west or shelbourne.

Just priced up a shelborne, Richard Weston, side discharge and a ktwo rear.

RW and Ktwo are same money Shelborne is a fair wack cheaper.
Given our Shelborne has held its value so well it's hard to change away.
