Ploughing with gps

Am ploughing in furrow and when going one way it drives nice down furrow every time but when I turn around it seems to be about 6 inches away from furrow wall . Good down field but bad going up other way. Can’t get any better by changing working width on screen. Haven’t changed offset as didn’t think it would need one. What am I doing Wong ?

You need an offset .

Plough not set properly? I would use GPS too if I had it.

You need an offset but will also need to reduce width slightly also worth doing a TCM calibration/ roll calibration

Your Antenna is not where it thinks it is in relation to the tractor as it is lying over in the furrow it is throwing it off centre.

You need to start at the beginning and calibrate everything. The roll angle will need to be right. If you’re not subscribing to a correction signal you will have to nudge a lot. Put the exact working width in with no offset. Then get the furrow width set and don’t move it. When it’s all set up you will have to accept slightly imperfect ploughing in exchange for straight lines!

if you’ve set it up as the distance from receiver to rear furrow it might make a slight difference, if it’s not got any machine dimensions set it won’t make a difference

What's the world come to. Next thing is people will put gps on their scraper tractor. I get that if you have gps you use it more than you need to but ploughing in furrow is over the top ffs

If you've got it use it but it'll no work 100% I was playing around with mine today as I had the plough on a tractor with GPS and it'll work most of the time but not all .

You definitely need an offset to sort it

Just rethinking my controversial no offset theory and I’m ploughing the same working width as my wheel centres. So in theory you will need an offset if your plough is wider or narrower than the wheel track so you should be able to work out the offset from that theory

Best way I’ve found for setting up gps for ploughing is to measure 3m off the furrow wall and put a marker in then plough back up the field then measure from marker to furrow wall, for example 60cm, 3m-60cm=2.4m giving a true working width. Repeat it for the other side of plough, if the measurements are different then you need an offset. For example if it’s 10cm wider to the right you need a 5cm offset to the left

Problem may be his antenna is a bit short and offset, needs to stand a bit nearer to the pan to stop the p1ssing on the carpet
