I wish I could get mine better in three days, we’ve been dealing with it for 12 months 🙈
I'm now wondering (after reading all the posts above) whether our Draxxin/footbathing success was helped by the earlier course of oxytet/footbathing over the previous few weeks that didn't seem to be working.

Maybe the oxytet 'softened it up' for the Draxxin to kill it :scratchhead:

You could be right!! Don’t get me wrong I’m not treating the same ewe for 12 months but once it bursts out the coronary an the tissues soft they don’t get better in three days!! Mine don’t any way! Vet told me not to foot bath because you spread it between the sheep, that didn’t sit well with me but what do you say... they’re suppose to be the professional!!

Bought a batch of ewes and lambs in the spring which unbeknown to me brought CODD with them. Absolute nightmare to get rid of. Was initially recommended LA Alamycin which was not particularly effective. Moved onto LA Betamox which I've found very good if a sheep is caught early, although 2 jabs a couple days apart required. Zactran for the worst cases.

I bought some ewe lambs in with it (220🤦‍♂️)
AB didn’t work but spraying with oxytet spray then pouring Pharmasyn powder directly in to the affected area dries them up a treat. The vet is happy because it is targeted treatment

Everybody seems too buy it in not contract it which leads me too think there’s some utter strokers in the world who sell sheep knowing fine well the problem is there 🤬 when I bought it in I viewed the ewes in a fairly tight pen, noticed the odd lame one loading them but again was tightly managed so they didn’t move much; by next morning I had 15 that could barely walk ... they also lambed a month later than the seller said 🤦🏻‍♂️

Bit of a task!!! 😬
Off the top of my head,it's 4 years since I last read it They think it's caused by something called treponemes but not 100% sure. VERY infectious, seems like it can live in the soil for a long time but not sure how long. It can live on foot shears for a few days if you trim feet.
Scald or footrot causing wounds on the foot seems to allow it access to infect a foot, it then Spreads along the top of the hoof called corony band, which leads to the horn detaching in the end.
In laboratory tests micotil worked best at controlling it. Whole flock treatment with micotil to eradicate it doesn't work brilliantly though, about half the flocks treated got reinfected, so whole flock treatments are not recommended.

We bought 230 ewe lambs from Wigton in September and 28 had Codd
We didn't realise initially, which just let it spread.

We penned up the infected ones and footbathed with lincospectin every day for a week which seemed to work.
We also used Zactran but I'm not sure that it's effective
Now we are fighting it constantly, we have footbathed the whole lot with Formalin and are now trying copper sulphate which is probably the best thing for digi in dairy cows.
Muddy gateways etc are making it worse

We're really ffuked off with it, if we had enough shed space they would all be inside & having daily footbathing with linco

Learnt my leason few years ago buying yearling ewes in market . Now I take care to have a dam good look at them as i let them out of the pen and on loading bay wheres theres space and you can hopefully spot trouble , any sign of CODD and I'd throw them up , never worth having them on the place .

We struggled with it, did all the footbathing and jabbed with alamycin. After it does down we used footvax, in a hope to reduce the amount of scald/footrot that seems to let CODD in.

We got it from someone's scratty ewes getting into ours 😤😤😤😤

Thats usually the biggest issue , all the part time dealer cowboys who do zero fencing and buy any cheap crap at mart .
