Usually eases off a bit once we get within 4 weeks of chrimbo....no?
Always. Booked some in at Bodmin today for week after next to make sure they went before tb test and was warned price might drop because of normal Xmas supply. Staff drifting back to work if possible, killing 200 today and a lot gone wales to be killed to keep supply going while bodmin gets through it's 'issues'.
Can't expect much better than that these days.

We had a lower trade on Tuesday. Had some away dead at beginning of week which am waiting for price back. Could have done with some more away next week before a drop, hopefully they won’t come down much.

Bentham Fat sheep a good trade last night. Think overall average was 218.
101 texel cross lambs avg 42.3 £94.20
78 cull ewes all over £1.10/kg, blackies, Cheviots, mongrel bred things, mules, Suffolk’s & Texel crosses.
Mate had 76 cull ewes in. Big strong texels all £108+ even a pen of fat Dorset ewes at £86.50
Dropped a trailer load of mule ewes off at longtown early hours. The crack is that heavy ewes are short in supply and are going to get shorter.
Your figures echo that.
I haven’t rang for prices don’t like ringing on a Thursday when the lasses are busy

Had some strong mule ewes 70kg £78, smaller ones but well covered 62kg £70 and a pen of mashams 72kg £85.50. Takes the pain out of the tupping lambs this back end! Especially Cheviot mule ewes @ £103.50. Makes me a bit happier about the £130 ewe lambs!!

Yes that’s my thoughts exactly. We breed most of our replacements ourselves so difficult to cost really.
Mule shearlings bought at £125 in February 200% scan
Swales 3 crop bought £87 200% scan in March
Blackies bought 3/4 crop in November £67
Mules cull av £65 up to now
Swale/Blackie culls av £45 up to now
I will let you fathom it out!
Some up to half of them were what I would call buggered
The ewes quoted as culls were years old no bought ewes culled incase anyone was wondering

I would be very surprised if the cattle price drops much, they just are not about, most feeders are getting so many phone calls for fat cattle that they are pulling out cattle to go now that normally would only go in a months or so time.

I had £80 for cull mules this week. Paid £84 for nice running lambs (that will be run on free grass keep for 12 months) so very happy with the depiction on the mules this autumn.
