Risk Assessment for Covid

What have you all said to employees about mixing socially outside work?

We can't stop them getting on the sauce outside work but made them aware of what that would do to the business if we got shut down during harvest and the Christmas tree selling season. We asked them to be sensible, that is all we can do!

Unfortunately I'm am a old fashioned farmer, I thinks if everybody is sensible they'll be fine. However these days local authority and officials seem to be out to trip us up. "Jobs worths" springs to mind.

How naive you are, and apparently clueless to the hazards of modern living. Farming is one of the worst industries for accidents and safety incidents, which suggests the exact opposite of what you imply. The fact that you can't seem to take any advice, and see a Risk Assessment as an arse covering exercise rather than a way of avoiding problems speaks volumes too.

A good test of your risk assessment process - are you changing anything as a result of doing the assessment? If you aren't, you probably haven't done the assessment properly.

I do wonder about mail order stuff. If the virus can cling to smooth surfaces for up to 75 hours, where does that put those nice shiny things that arrive from the hot spots all neatly wrapped?

Hi Highland Mule,
fair point, well made, if a little harsh.
I am doing my best, although it might not be good enough for some.
Sometimes difficult working alone, trying to cover all aspects of modern farming, not a great fan of paperwork in general.

Yes, apologies for being harsh - you caught me at a tactless moment, but I felt the point needed met. Doing the best is all we can do, but you're not alone - there are organisations and people who can help both with the paperwork and also the social aspects.
