Maybe, if the insurance fund isn't needed next year, they could distribute that between the growers as well? Works out at £120/ha if my maths is correct.
Would genuinely be a good gesture to growers if they did. Might even persuade me to grow again this year. I would imagine that there will be some excuse for the fund being needed within British sugar to cover the reduced sugar produced this year.🙄

I’m not sure? 2 cereals after then osr? I assume 32 months from drilling date?
The quote says 'no flowering crop is to be planted within 22 months of the sugar beet crop, and no oilseed rape crop is to be planted within 32 months', so is that from drilling or not?

It had to be done UK homegrown sugar would have been doomed ........without derogation beet in UK on a knife edge as it is ..........
Perhaps a signal that government does nt want to rely on imports and back British farmers .🇬🇧🇬🇧

BS still need to up their game with the pricing though? You guys all jump back and up the acres on the back of this we'll be no further forward.
I don't think there'll be too many jumping back, a few maybe but not the masses and I don't think many will be upping what they grow especially with cereal prices looking good for next year.

How do people see the future of beet. Surely unless the price rises the future looks bleak.

On a wet shitty morning like today with beet harvester on qué for haulier awaiting his loads seriously questions your sanity for even growing beet . This is one of the boundaries the whole beet industry that is stretched .
My ground was travelling a real treat last night but after todays rain/sleet/snowy shite totaling 30mm even our ground in a sloppy saturated mess.
