Yes it's a two way system, hopefully that thought will ease any future congestion. HopefullyOnly good thing with all the delays at ports etc is it must be also slowing beef imports here , long may it continue

No, because our government have allowed EU meat to come in until April 2021 without Vet check or export Heath certificates, so the import flow has been unaffected so far.Only good thing with all the delays at ports etc is it must be also slowing beef imports here , long may it continue
What the thought on trade going forward? Clean cattle price? Got some that we would normally sell middle march but tempted now.Off the clock, about 820 head entered and unless it was very poor for its age etc trade would have been as dear if not dearer than the previous week, no end of smallish steers £1080/1100 head and pen after pen of stronger cattle anything from there to late £1300's and that would be both steers and heifers, topped out at £1420 for a 2 year old Char steer.
Stirk trade was much dearer on the week, esp for some poor animals, i saw perhaps the dearest Fri steer sold in the stirk ring ever, it was about 16 months old, worse than a P grade ( if that was possible ) narrow behind as a pen, was a growthy steer to be fair, made £675! no end of suckled char steers £970/80 etc, not that many good cattle about in this ring thou and i would say myself that it was possible one of the poorest entry's quality wise for many weeks but all sold to very strong bidding.
Thats even better news, so our current good beef price isnt to do with reduced imports and should go higher after april when getting meat into the country becomes harder/more expensive. No, because our government have allowed EU meat to come in until April 2021 without Vet check or export Heath certificates, so the import flow has been unaffected so far.
Trade will remain strong all year i reckon, whats going to knock it? Numbers are short etc , end of lockdown and people going back to eating out (cow beef or foreign beef) might pull uk beef back abit perhaps. What the thought on trade going forward? Would agree. Only thing that might hit it a little in the next Month to turn out is the price of feed and straw maybe?Trade will remain strong all year i reckon, whats going to knock it? Hopefully the cost of feed and straw is getting rewarded in the sale of stock and for that reason it will probably be ok ........wishful thinking !Would agree. Only thing that might hit it a little in the next Month to turn out is the price of feed and straw maybe?
Agree, beef and sheepmeat is not too expensive, chicken and pork is too cheapExcept for farmers with multiple new tractors and multi million
pound farms dont tend to be sheep farmers.
Red meat is more affordable as a percentage of peoples wages than it has been
for years .If they want mainly factory farmed ,soya hungry, bland chicken then that
option is available too.
Oh dear I can see why @livestock 1 gets annoyedAgree, beef and sheepmeat is not too expensive, chicken and pork is too cheap
Sorry, will just watch and readOh dear I can see why @livestock 1 gets annoyed
Maybe, but you might find that's when our lambs suddenly become easier to exportThats even better news, so our current good beef price isnt to do with reduced imports and should go higher after april when getting meat into the country becomes harder/more expensive.
No that’s wrong apparently lamb is too dear. According to some. Not meOh dear I can see why @livestock 1 gets annoyed
Yeah that's what I mean. It's very simple all food is to cheap. No that’s wrong apparently lamb is too dear. According to some. Not me
I think lambs over £100 sound dear to some but when you factor in that money has halved in value over the last 30 years starts to put a different slant on thingsYeah that's what I mean. It's very simple all food is to cheap.
Very true. Or a 100 stores lambs sold now with say a real profit £30 doesn't buy a load of straw.I think lambs over £100 sound dear to some but when you factor in that money has halved in value over the last 30 years starts to put a different slant on things
