Dog Signs

As the title, going to get some dog signs made up, been round this morning and theres dogs all over, luckily all ewes are in but just gimmers out, some folk are fine when asked to put them on a lead but others need to meet Billy Bat

.Get the same old story of oh my dogs fine it wont chase them, not the point it should be on a lead, last 3 that got worried all said the same after theyed worried... Dreading turn out when lambing gets going with the amount of crag rats out for there jollies Got the normal Nfu and NSA signs so just looking for the collective ideas on what legally can be written or may be add a picture of a worried sheep?
Av a few ideas but don't think id get away

I had to shoot a Husky on Wednesday that was attacking my ewes, ( it was scary to see how vicious it was, even after the first shot it still turned to attack the ewe again)
I'm now public enemy No1 in the Local area for shooting the wee pet that would hurt a fly, and it didn't Kill any sheep, Only because i got there soon enough.
give me a shout if you need signs made and i'll sort them for you.

Im already public enemy number one

trigger happy farmer, if they keep um on a lead there's not a problem but for some reason there can't comprehend that simple countryside rule

Several years ago either nfu or nsa had signs that had picture of sheep laid ripped open and in bits from dog attack. Was very thought provoking. Some may take offence at it but when you see how quickly a dog or even worse 2 feral dogs slaughter a group of ewes. Foot paths used to be for commuting and essential, not just for every day pleasure.

I put a pic up on village Facebook page after putting a photo of a wounded sheep up. Got so much hate I've had to come off Facebook. Bloody townies.
Getting very worried about lambing this year. Feel your pain...

Almost to the point you'd need a camera on the gun to film what happened as evidence.

Keep your dog on a lead or I will shoot it. I love dogs and that seem reasonable to me.

Hmmm. Social media could be a good idea but maybe a 1 min video. The problem comes when you go in confrontationally. Straight away it puts the public in a defensive position psychologically. They don't know that you've had to shout at 10 other people or that your sheep have been attacked before.

I always think it is best to be direct and to the point if you use signs. Passive aggression is not a good look. I might do a vid to share on social from the Roussin account.

No.

"Your dog will be shot if spotted off lead and not at heel. Keep your dog on a lead".

Just because the dog isn't actually in contact with the sheep doesn't mean it isn't worrying them. The Scottish Access code have very clearly defined that worrying is any time the dog is in the same enclosure as farm animals and isn't in close contact - at heel and/or on a short lead.

This is exactly what I said , I had the phone with me and I should have done a quick recording of it in action to show how bad it was!!!

Father tells a story of a policeman asking him 'do you think you can hit it from this range?, go on, give it a try', followed by an ambitious but successful shot with his .270 rifle. Even in that case the owners complained, so don't feel too bad about your own situation.

Using firearms when the owners are in the immediate area would give me major concerns and wouldn't attempt it without someone recording the whole thing.

The dogs were unaccompanied in all the cases I’m familiar with.

Unfortunately, signs get torn down. Gets a bit expensive. I just use big sheets of tin, nail it on to something solid with big nails, and scrawl " No Dogs " on with a paintbrush. One local arsewarbler has taken to spraying them with an aerosol, but I just keep redoing them.

I've only once shot a dog, owner called the police, police told them to expect getting a vets bill to pay, all went quiet after that, but that was the 60s when the police could handle situations like that without having to report back to a superior.

These things get me really wound up but I don't have a dog or any sheep.
Things are only going to get worse as people pander more and more to their pets, or "fur babies" as they are called so often these days.
Whatever happened to the days when "treated like a dog" was a bad thing. Treated like a dog now would mean a life of pampered luxury.

education education education, they wont listen to us, and no-one else to tell them, what it does need are very heavy fines, and publication of them, the thought of a £5,000 +fine, should concentrate their minds, if the courts were made to issue them.
