Many people mock these expensive sales of cattle/ sheep etc but in many cases it is outside money from other businesses that is is being pumped into farming as no ordinary farmer has that kind of money to spend....this can only be a good thing in some ways.

It’s often outside money being pumped in, but not into farming. It is generally pumped into others in a small group, whose herds are built on the same outside funding.

It’s a rich man’s hobby, which is fair enough if that’s what they want to do with their money, but it’s not injected into the farming industry. The whole pyramid scheme works by extracting money from the wannabes, which often does come from farming.

:oops::oops: Shocked, surely the squeaky clean world of limousin breeders wouldn’t risk their reputation on such a scheme!

Fair pay day for the mart to, anyone think they’ll reverse last summers commission hike after all the “live and thriving” that’s been going on over the last 6 months?
I think markets have earnt their money this past year, we’d of been knackered without them.

I saw an advert on Facebook last night, for semen from her full brother.

I dare say she will have lots of full sibs via ET already.

I expect their recipient dams will cope just fine.
I would imagine that the only bull she’ll calve naturally to is a Wagyu - avoids those unsightly scars when it comes to show time

Pedigree breeders, selling and buying vastly overpriced animals, can get into awful difficulties regarding taxation.

Do you save any tax by buying a very expensive animal. It goes down in your closing valuation at the same price.
Unless it dies and you haven;t got it insured - in which case you're quids (or gns) in.

You can’t judge the tax implication to the business unless you have knowledge of what else is happening within that business

I'd tend to disagree to a point, for a start many of the big prices are fake and secondly why would the British public be in favour of farmers when their cows are all worth all those thousands and some of them have hundreds of them.
So we get the reputation of being fat cats because of what are regularly fake sales.
