Truck Insurance

Not sure but each office is run by self employed agent's so will depend on their own experiences

My neighbour Dave Probert runs the Bridgnorth office having moved from Market Drayton a year or to ago.

We have regular conversations about non agri insurance

We have pushed the boundaries with the underwriters and challenged some of their decisions.

The friend tonym mention earlier in the thread was myself when he had been quoted more for his truck.

Tony I would like to thank you for putting me in touch with the Bridgnorth NFU office. I spoke to a nice young lady called Alicia who has hopefully sorted my insurance needs.
After trying the Leighton Buzzard, Ware and NFU direct offices and told that I needed to have pre-existing business in order to get a quote for vintage truck insurance, (in fact the lad at NFU direct told me I needed to have all my vehicles insured with them before they would do a vintage quote). Alicia said I will just check with the underwriters, and five minutes later phoned back and said no problem. Within half an hour she had quoted me for the truck, tractor and ploughs. Job done.
So a massive thank you to Tonym and Alicia at Bridgnorth NFU.
Finally if any of you are looking for vintage truck insurance, don't waste time trying to get a quote, just phone Alicia.

I know this is an old thread, but thought I would try to see if I could get my truck insured. Unfortunately Alicia doesn't work there, but the lady I spoke had a quick word with the agent in the office and said that the vintage truck insurance was only available to existing policy holders.

I did explain that I was mentioned on here, but the agent said that is isn't possible.

I then asked if I took out 'vintage tractor insurance' would that then class as a policy, so I could get lorry insurance. Neither herself, or agent, thought this would could as this was a 'one off insurnace' and not what they classed as a policy.

She was going to contact the underwriters and get back to me to see if I could do this.

Regards

Trevor, my lorry is insured by the Bridgnorth NFU office on their classic policy and at the time I first insured it was the only vehicle with them. They now also insured my tractors but that is the only insurance I have with them. Have a word with Dealer as he is friendly with the branch manager to clarify the position.

@Tonym they have phoned me back this afternoon and have said that that they cannot insure my lorry as I don't have a policy. Also taking out vintage tractor insurance would not class as an existing policy to enable me to get the lorry insurance.

The did say that if I got car insurance with them, that would count, but as I have a company car, not a viable option.

As my insurance has run out, I have gone to Cherished Insurance on their Transporters for Vintage Vehicles policy, £270 fully comp, but cheaper that my renewal with Walker Midgley.

Maybe get it all confirmed with NFU before my renewal next year. :)

A friend ran into similar problems, one NFU office refused, he went to another and was covered without any problems!
