Hi often read about how fendt transmissions fail at 8000 hrs. That is not my experience.

716 19000 hrs
716 14000 hrs
716 10200 hrs
818 16500 hrs
818 16200 hrs. Just recently had transmission replaced
824 9800 hrs
926 14700 hrs
720 5500 hrs
720 3200 hrs
927 2000 hrs

Over 110 000 hrs on fendt transmissions and only 1 has failed at 16 000 hrs.
Pretty reliable if ask me.

Do bit everything baling raking spuds / onions so destoning planting pulling up beds harvesting trailers. Drilling arable crops some cultivation but it not there main job.

One firm was delivering feed here with a big heavy blower lorry trailer and an 820 and blew up the second transmission in 3000 hrs,but I would say it was down to the driver. Always seemed to be revving flat out and "slipping" the drive.

The first 716 with 19000 hrs has done a lot road work towing spreaders/ sprayer. Blocks spread out 30 km it was not unusual for it to over 300 km a day. While they may not be as heavy as a full trailer, it had freeman baler behind it for its first part of its life running all over the district.

Think its the road work that kills them. They were never designed for it and no1 has any need for a vario for transport jobs anyway

I disagree. Loads of them in Germany pulling 40 tonnes at 50k (now 60 I suppose) for years. How many do you see pulling double trailers in the summer an a huge tanker in the winter/ spring. Mine will do 53k at 1500 rpm, not many power shifts capable of that.

I think transport is where the vario is vest suited as you aren't going everywhere revving the guts out of the engine. Smoother drive pickup and less jerking about. The main consideration is dealing with any heat build up in the transmission/axles but that applies to all transmissions.

No one on TFF ever talks about how their semi or full powershift machine died and needed open heart surgery but they do happen because I've seen them in dealers myself.

Neighbour bought a 2014 724 privately with 2800 hours on it in 2018 for £90,000 and the gearbox failed at 3200 hours. His local dealer was shocked and it turned out it had the wrong oil in the gearbox. My neighbour contacted the original owner and he produced all the invoices proving it had been serviced correctly and on time by his local dealer. Fendt wouldn’t help because of the oil issue so he had it repaired elsewhere. Cost him £6000 and the tractor is going fine now on 4500 hours.

£6000 is quite cheap. Paid similar for clutch packs on full powershift new Holland.

If it had been serviced correctly by Fendt where did the wrong oil come from?

They’ll never know but even though my neighbour doesn’t know the previous owner he suspects it was a dealer cock up because the service records were so thorough and it had been on a 4 year warranty agreement. Unfortunately it was out of warranty when he bought it.

Sounds a lot of rubbish.
