Ah nz frie any different to a U.K. frie ?I have edited the post Aberdeen Angus X NZ freisian
If they paid you £4 to take them away they would still end up being expensive!Speaking to a friend of mine who was at my local mart on monday said NZ freisian x Aberdeen angus heifers calves at £2- £4 , wonder if they are worth the punt at that price even if you kept them as sucklers in the future ?
How many of them were £2-£4 though? Just one or two,or many? Even very ordinary calves at Carlisle yesterday were making £100 +.Speaking to a friend of mine who was at my local mart on monday said NZ freisian x Aberdeen angus heifers calves at £2- £4 , wonder if they are worth the punt at that price even if you kept them as sucklers in the future ?

Aren’t they out of Fr x Jerseymuch smaller
apparently the owner of the calves turned up with a 10 single deck trailer with 30 calves in it
I think the average was about £11
I reckon they would produce some very good eating beef, but possibly not very much of it.Aren’t they out of Fr x Jersey
Totally agree, I try avoid selling culls during the week before the festival as I've been absolutely clobbered in the past. Everyone does the same holds um back & totally floods the market....... I jus hope these feeder boys aren't doing this with there hoggetts for eid beginning May.... If every1 jus keeps selling when they're ready the job will be absolutely fine.........We aren’t saying that. What we are saying is it’s less about ‘the week’ now if you read it If you keep them back for ‘the week’ then you may not just miss the boat but miss the tide too
Witch auction?Speaking to a friend of mine who was at my local mart on monday said NZ freisian x Aberdeen angus heifers calves at £2- £4 , wonder if they are worth the punt at that price even if you kept them as sucklers in the future ?
Witch auction?
They would be worth more than that as Bobby calves
I would say there is still somewhat of a seasonal spike with culls. Certainly not a flat trade all year round.
Maybe there arla calves they can't kill them till 8 weeks old.Witch auction?

I would say that is when there are usually troughs rather than spikes! The seasonal spikes are more in relation too when people cull sheep rather than festivals For example weaning... pre tupping... scanning...
they will always be what they are!Speaking to a friend of mine who was at my local mart on monday said NZ freisian x Aberdeen angus heifers calves at £2- £4 , wonder if they are worth the punt at that price even if you kept them as sucklers in the future ?
You don’t get Jersian x AA sired Jersian calves though. When they use Jersian X AA Angus calves that were born on farm to run onto the herd again then you get these extreme ones, I see a lot of them unfortunately, the ones done well are good but the ones not done well are bad.How many of them were £2-£4 though? Just one or two,or many? Even very ordinary calves at Carlisle yesterday were making £100 +.
Farmer Phil on you tube seems to think soI reckon they would produce some very good eating beef, but possibly not very much of it.
